I so wish we had booked to stay for 2 nights instead of 1. This guesthouse is in a restricted area, due to its proximity to the Palestine border. On arrival, go to the Visitor Centre and speak to the Police. They will issue you with a pass that enables you to pass the checkpoint and drive down to the guest house. Due to border patrols, you are not allowed to access the River Jordan at night. There is ample parking and, currently, the whole area is very quiet. (However, the Catholics are building on the adjacent plot, so this might increase the number of tourists.) There were only half a dozen other people staying when we were there, so we almost had the residence to ourselves. Our room has comfortable twin beds and was utterly quiet. We hadn't realised how far the guest house was from the nearest town and how difficult it was to access the site, so we didn't know where to get dinner. The cooks prepared food for the staff and they kindly provided extra, so that we were able to eat. The absolute highlight for me was sitting on the terrace, watching the sun set over Palestine. It really was rather special and I didn't want to go in to bed.

The best deal we had in all of Jordan! Spacious rooms, fully equipped kitchen, two huge terraces, clean pool outside and waterfall in living room :) Very cozy. Everything looks luxurious on pictures, but in person it is even better! Fast check in and check out. There is no point to book nearby hotel, just take this one, you will not regret it. We had a wonderful stay. The apartment was big and very well equipped. We loved the balcony with the beautiful view of the pool area and the sea. Geries, the lovely owner explained us everything on arrival and asked even the following days if everything is fine or if we need something. Best for experiencing the Dead Sea at a leisurely pace. One should only select the locations having direct access to the dead sea. We stayed at the Samarah resort so didn't actually go into the city, and didn't feel the need to. The facilities here may not be as good as found in other parts of Jordan. It all depends on the hotel/ staying accommodation selected. We also didn't explore the other tourist sites near Sowayma - if you feel the need to, then plan to stay for at least 3 nights.

I like the location and the staff at the bar. They were friendly and polite. In my opinion this hotel should be 3 star. The breakfast had very limited choice of food; cleanliness much to be desire, staff didn't speak English (or barely speak) with bar staff be the exception. However my worse experience was with the lady that was security guard at the entrance to the hotel. I felt she was getting great pleasure in checking my grocery shopping!! Twice!!she was rude and und unpleasant . This was my third visit to Sowayma (different hotels) but never I felt so unwelcome

This city was a city on the shores of the Dead Sea. There were no places of entertainment for tourists in the city. Of course, being close to the Dead Sea has its advantages. There are many interesting historical sites in the vicinity of this city, which are definitely worth visiting, but since public transport is not available, be sure to consider the lack or inaccessibility of public transport to tourists. That is why it is important that you also rent a car before booking a hotel here, so that you can visit the sights in the vicinity of the city. We applied to a car rental company and were very satisfied with the professional service, and I would like to share my experience with you. Dirty/not super clean, sticky surfaces, run down spa. The breakfast was not worth it. I would give it 4 out of 10 for cleanliness, 7 out of 10 for attentive staff, 8 out of 10 for pools and access to Dead Sea. Spa facility 4 out of 10. But sunset over Dead Sea was 10 out of 10. Don’t eat at the poolside Aqua Bar.

The Marriott Dead Sea exceeded our expectations — the hotel was truly wonderful. It has an excellent location with comfortable access to a private beach, three large pools for adults (including one heated), plus an additional children’s pool with attractions. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the pools and the sea was absolutely fantastic. Our stay was incredibly enjoyable!
