The food was amazing. We both love seafood and we're very happy with all the dishes and their presentation for both dinner and breakfast. I loved the outside baths and managed two sessions, before dinner and before breakfast. Everyone who has seen our holiday photos are very jealous.

This was my first experience with a ryokan and I was amazed. The care with which you are treated will spoil you. The food was exceptional. The in room dinner dining was lovely, particularly since you can gaze out at the serene garden between courses. The Onsen experience was very relaxing.

Great value for two couples. A few blocks across the water and downriver from bus stop W15, with comfortable bedding and pillows, very quiet neighborhood at night. Everything you need at a great price. We were very satisfied with our three night stay here!

I absolutely loved Hagi, we stayed for 3 nights and plan to return and stay again sometime in the future. The city art museum is impressive, the old merchant houses are interesting, the beach is absolutely stunning and the pottery was too tempting as I bought 4 pieces. I'd recommend visiting the atmospheric temples - Tokoji and Daishoin. Definitely stop by Meirinkan - this combines an interesting museum with tourist information, cafe, restaurant and shop selling a good selection of items. Sadly we didn't have time to visit the temple ruins or Mount Kasayama.

Hagi was home to several prominent and important figures in Japanese history. It was the hot bed of ideas starting with Yoshida Shoin whose free schools encouraged pride in being Japanese and also in having aspirations/dreams. The Hagi 5 brought back ideas from England that helped launch Japan's rapid industrialization. It was the crossroads for Satsuma's Saigo Takamori, Tosa's Ryoma Sakamoto and Hagi's Shoin Yoshida to formulate a united plan to bring down the Tokugawa Shogunate. This area should have been declared a World Heritage Side. Maybe it would be if more information was provided in English for non-Japanese visitors.

The roads and sidewalks are wide and clean, making it a pleasant town to stroll through. Pine trees line both sides of the road, the buildings are low, and the shop signs have subdued colors, making it feel just like Kyoto. The town is compactly sandwiched between the sea and the mountains, so the beaches are beautiful and you can climb the mountains. Summer mandarins are plentiful and grow regularly along the roads. Every shop offers delicious summer mandarin orange dishes. There are many Hagi ware shops, so it's also recommended to browse them. Anyone interested in the end of the Edo period should definitely visit this town. Shoin Shrine is more majestic than you'd expect, the castle town is beautiful, and the stone walls of Hagi Castle ruins are still well preserved.

It's a great location for exploring museums and other historic sites, including Hagi Castle. While walking is a bit inconvenient, a rental car is recommended. While not a frequent visitor for Koreans, it's a worthwhile visit for anyone interested in the history of the Choshu Domain, the Imjin War, or other modern history. The natural beauty of Aojima, including the Aojima Marine Alps and camellia forests, is also exceptional. The nearby Nakato Onsen and Yuda Onsen limestone caves are also beautiful and offer plenty to see.
