This is really nice and cozy place to spend some time in the nature. It is clean, rooms are big enough. Hot tub available. Owner is very kind, he helped us with some advice and arranging a taxi. It is advisable to come here by car because logistics is easier then. We came by train and by bus and it took us quite a long time. This is a great location to go by car to Mt.Aso Crater, southern route. However, we did rent electric bikes at Asobo no Sato Roadstation and it was doable too. If you are staying at this place , don’t miss Kamishikimi Shrine, it is beautiful.

I really enjoyed my stay, it was a completely different experience than other places I've stayed in Japan. The area has a slightly spooky, Alabama-esque feel. Maybe it was becouse of the goat outside my window, maybe the American-style buildings, or maybe, aside from meeting the lovely owners once at check-in, I didn't see a single person during my one-night stay. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable, and the air conditioning worked flawlessly (as did the Wi-Fi) a big plus for the fridge in the room (there are no shops at the area, I recommend buying some sandwiches etc earlier). It was the cheapest option I could find in the area, a bit pricey for the standard, but considering the spooky vibe (which I liked), I can't really complain. My destination was the Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, and it was a 30-minute walk. It's about an hour's walk from the train station. It's also a 15-minute walk from the coolest old-school samurai-style restaurant I've ever been to.

It is very nice getting to stay in a traditional Japanese home. The place is very cozy and you can see how Hide-san and Leek-san put a lot of effort into making the place homey and comfortable. I am very thankful for their hospitality, they introduced me to scenic spots near the place. Their cats are lovely housemates too.
