Very nice and cosy hotel in Anuradhapura. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. The staff super friendly and the food very good. It was one of the best Hotels we stayed in while in Sri Lanka. The atmosphere was very calm and cozy. Would definetely stay there again. :)

We had the warmest welcome from the sweetest staff — they were there for us throughout our entire stay and nothing was ever too much to ask. Our room was spacious, spotless and the bathroom was even more beautiful than expected. The perfect place to pause your trip for a day, relax by the pool and unwind. Far enough from the busy areas to feel peaceful, yet close enough (a short bike ride!) to all the main sights in Anuradhapura. We had both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant and everything was delicious — compliments to the chef. A special shout-out to Janake and the team, who arranged our Wilpattu National Park tour, made sure breakfast packs were ready for our early morning, helped us with tuk-tuks whenever we needed to go into town, and shared great tips for the rest of our trip. All in all, we won’t forget this stay or the incredible hospitality. Truly a place we can wholeheartedly recommend!

Everything! One of the best places we have stayed. Amazing staff who are sweet, kind and incredible personal service. Serene surroundings. The design of the villa is incredible. Very beautiful room. We had a fantastic stay at Saplumar Lodge! The location is perfect, making it easy to explore the area. Our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The highlight of our stay was the incredible hospitality of our host, Shan. He was always smiling, approachable, and genuinely eager to assist us. His helpful recommendations and local insights made our trip even better. Whether we needed advice on places to visit or just a friendly chat, Shan was always there to help. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great accommodation with outstanding service! Would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay here! Chaya is very friendly and helpful with arranging tours/anything else you might need during your stay. She is also a very good cook ;) The room was very clean, with good A/C, and the Wifi worked really well from the kitchen area (didn't work as well from the room we were staying in, but this wasn't a problem). Would highly recommend anyone to stay here!

This has to be the best accommodation in town. The property was simply stunning. Exceptionally well run by a beautiful family who are attentive and caring to all your needs. It’s a new facility with spotlessly clean and well presented villas including a great pool to refresh your senses after a day of visiting the sights. Great value for money . Highly recommend.

During my stay, the property owner made several inappropriate and judgmental comments about my affordability and my decision to share meals with my mother, who is disabled. His behaviour was rude and discriminatory. After I posted my review describing my disappointment, the owner contacted me directly on my personal mobile number using very abusive and offensive language. This message was completely unacceptable and made me feel unsafe.

We loved our Homestay chez Olivia .

We loved our Homestay chez Olivia . Lovely couple very hospitable and helpful. Hired bikes which was wonderful to go see all the Stupa sites etc. beautiful area & lovely garden. Birdlife was fabulous. Highly recommend

Anuradhapura is an amazing and spiritual place.

Anuradhapura is an amazing and spiritual place. It's different from the other sites in Sri Lanka because it still attracts so many pilgrims to its religious sites. It's a good idea to dedicate one day to visiting the active pilgrimage sites and the next to the historical sites, for which you need a ticket. Remember to cover up with long trousers and sleeves and don't forget your socks, because the ground is really hot and you have to take off your shoes everywhere. If you have an extra day, you can also return to the sites at night, which is when pilgrims light candles. Make sure you've got the Pick Me app installed and look out for a tuk tuk driver called Nisha. He's absolutely amazing: great driver, kind and attentive and with good English. For dinner, the atmospheric Hotel Shalini is a good bet. The Seedevi family restaurant is another good place. If you want to have a beer, they can put you in a separate 'family' room, or you can go to the tiny 'pub' next door.

It is one of the best locations, slightly hot and humid, but if you love history and sightseeing, you cannot miss this location, further you can travel to multiple historic locations from here, we travelled to Mihinthale Temple and Mahiyangana, the drive was scenic, but Mihinthale will take your breath.

Anuradhapura, one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities, is a treasure trove of ancient history that stretches back to the 4th century BCE. Established by King Pandukabhaya, it served as the majestic capital of Sri Lanka for over a millennium, playing a pivotal role in the island's Buddhist heritage and cultural evolution. The arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, introduced by Mahinda Thera in the 3rd century BCE, marked a transformative era for Anuradhapura. This led to the creation of awe-inspiring stupas, monastic complexes, and elaborate water reservoirs that showcase the ingenuity of the time. Central to this transformation is the revered Sri Maha Bodhi tree, a sapling believed to have been taken from the very tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment, which continues to be a powerful pilgrimage site. Anuradhapura flourished as a vibrant hub of trade, culture, and religion. Its stunning architecture, exemplified by monumental structures like the Ruwanwelisaya and the Jetavanaramaya, reflects the extraordinary vision and craftsmanship of its builders—each stone telling a story of devotion, power, and artistry. The capital shifted to Polonnaruwa, but Anuradhapura remained a beacon of historical significance, earning its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The property is very beautiful and the staff are truly kind and helpful. We had dinner at the hotel twice and the food was really delicious, although a bit more expensive compared to local Sri Lankan prices. The room was large and clean, and there’s a lovely swimming pool that unfortunately we didn’t have time to try. The staff kindly arranged two bicycles for us to visit Anuradhapura — it was a great experience! Breakfast was plentiful, with a nice Sri Lankan selection and eggs to order. Highly recommended!

Since the booking was made, the hotel contacted and checked for meal preferences and all the other needs we had, which was great. Very pleasant host and was attentive to our needs since our entry. Very thoughtful to provide us flowers as offerings as well when we were planning to visit the temples in evening. Food was good, rooms were clean and comfortable, close to all the anuradhapura temple, calm and tranquil location. Fully worth the money. Will stay again in our next visits yo Anurafhapura.

Very very friendly staff in an amazing hotel that has a sort of spa/wellness center vibe. We immediately felt relaxed. We had a really clean and spacious room with a garden view. Towels are provided at the pool and in the evening the food is yum! The staff also allowed us to use the pool after our Anuradhapura city tour even though we'd passed our check-out time. With the heat on some Sri Lankan days, this was especially nice before travelling to Sigiriya.

A true boutique experience. Just 3 rooms overlooking a nicely landscaped garden. Very good linen and towels, excellent pillows, quiet. I was astonished to find that the manager, Madushka, has no training as a hotelier. Yet, he delivers a very high standard of hospitality. The menu is very good, too (we had Sri Lankan vegetarian meals only). For visits to Anuradhapura, this will be my go-to plac to stay.
