This was honestly one of the most welcoming and thoughtful places we’ve ever stayed. From the moment we arrived, Sydney and his team looked after us so well. The chef asked what we fancied and was very accommodating. He cooked the most amazing curry, lunch and honey hoppers for breakfast (which we were introduced to and absolutely loved). They even gave us a packed lunch for our elephant boat safari, which they organised, along with a great driver. There were little extra touches that made such a different, like beers in the fridge when we arrived (and they went to get more when we ran out), a cooking class with a local family, a really interesting forest walk with an indigenous guide and when we asked if we could do some laundry they sorted it for us with no trouble at all. The cottage is in a beautiful, quiet spot with amazing Mountain View’s, a perfect place to switch off. Would highly recommend supporting this amazing project. Such a great experience 😊😊

The hotel is located off the beaten track and has a strong focus on sustainability. We did two safaris (Boat Tour in Gal Oya NP and a little stroll in the afternoon). We've learned a lot about nature, the community and the country from the friendly naturalists who guide the tours and who work for for the hotel. It was a great experience and one of our highlights in Sri Lanka!

Everything was exceptional, the food was fantastic and the service was the best we received so far in Sri Lanka. The huts are beautiful and well decorated, very comfortable and has everything you need. Fantastic location and great tour options. Would go back in a heartbeat.

We had an incredible 3 nights at the lake club and left this resort very relaxed after being treated very well. We slept 2 nights in the tent and 1 night in the main room and both options are really good. The tent has everything you need (good bed, good shower and lake view). I can recommend to take a massage here and also book the boat safari. We were lucky to see elephants. The food is excellent and they are very flexible in terms of timing of having your food. All the staff is focused on your moment to relax and gives you the opportunity to enjoy your stay. We really enjoyed our stay and also the attention of the small, nice details (Bluetooth speaker for example) that makes the lake club an excellent location to enjoy your trip.

Let me start with one thing, fantastic... the owner is one of a kind, room is clean and very well maintained... food is very good, and beyond everything their service is superb It was like my home and i felt like one.... so i suggest everyone to go and enjoy the stay, Trust me u wont regret that

My family (including teenage boys) and I had a wonderful stay here. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming and produced a delicious supper and breakfast for us. We were positively surprised by the beautiful setting - if I could post some photos on this site, I definitely would! The property is surrounded by beautiful palm trees, wonderful fruit trees around the back and amazing spices, as well as a luscious green paddy field, all of which the host kindly showed us. The property is opposite a very pretty river and not far from the Gal Oya lake safari start. Would definitely recommend!

Charitha Rest provides an open-air bath, as well as air-conditioned accommodation in Ampara. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay.

It's a very good place to stay in my favourite spot in all of Sri Lanka. The room was well ventilated and clean, they had a nice common area, gorgeous and quiet garden and over the top service. Worth every Rs.
