Staff is really attentive and helpful. This makes for a really stress free vacation as we did not have to worry about a thing. Food was delicious and always prepared fresh. Beach was as epic as it gets, long and wide sandy strip. Pool was well taken care of and loungers were plenty to be found in shade and in sun. Rooms, although simple, were comfortable and cleaned daily. Location is good, quiet and relaxing.

I don't usually leave a review but this place is exceptional. Incredibly friendly owner. Very clean and delicious breakfast. On top of that we were welcomed with a glass of coconut water which was a nice touch. Best value for the money!

Everything. To start with, the property itself. Absolutely beautiful settings, pool and room. It looks and feel very luxurious and secret, perfect place to relax after a lot of travelling through Sri Lanka. Squirrels running about and lots of colorful birds. The staff truly go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and to help you with your plans. I came to Lagoon Gate to relax, but being my hyperactive self, I was longing for things to do. When asking for a bicycle I was lent one right away and when I asked to visit Mulkirigala cave temple, not only was I provided with a tuktuk and driver in the next hour but a member of staff (Shan) even came with me and I gave me lots of explanations about the temple. I was then taken on a free kayak tour on the lagoon where I could see lots of wildlife. Oh, I had some absolutely delicious seafood at their restaurant. AND one of the best massage I've had in Sri Lanka un their little massage parlor in the gardens. Kind of an endless review, and I was only there for two days ! Just go there with your eyes closed, a must stay in Sri Lanka.

We had a amazing stay at the hobbit house. The owner and his mother were incredibly kind and helpful. We had a lot of questions during our stay and always got immediate help. The homemade breakfast was one of the best we had. Also the room is just absolutely beautiful and unique.

We had a wonderful stay. The location of the bungalows is amazing. They really are right on the beach. We had a family bungalow with two beds and it was very spacious and clean. Since they are partly open, you will hear the waves very well (I like it, but others might find it very loud) and it‘s close to nature (for example some sand inside). But I didnt see any bugs. The owner is very friendly and welcoming.

Great location in a short walk from the beach. All our needs and wishes were fulfilled right away. Since we stayed longer, we were even offered to get a fridge, what was great addition. Breakfast is delicious and is served at nice dining area with great view to lagoon. Grab your binoculars if you are interested in wild nature: several bird species and monkeys were spotted from the dining area. We asked to adjust our breakfast for more “Sri Lankan” and enjoyed hoppers and roti with different fillings. Pool, room and garden were all clean, spacious and well maintained. Calm and quiet in the evenings. We had a room with AC, and it worked perfectly. Property has own entrance to the lagoon with kayaks available for free. Don’t miss your chance for a little adventure. We definitely recommend staying at Hidden garden, if your values match with ours ❤️

We really enjoyed our stay here. The owners are warm and friendly the beach is terrific and we swam in the ocean numerous times ( you need to be confident in the ocean ). The staff are exceptional and their different personalities shine through. This should always be encouraged, staff are people and should be treated with respect and staff here seemed to be at ease which we personally liked. Next to the staff we really rate the food. The coconut cake was heaven on a plate ..... order it if you see it on the menu. The owner allowed us to be part of his birthday celebrations ..... how nice of him & his wife. Lovely lovely people. We would happily return. Final word is to the troop of pets. They seem well looked after and that warmed us to this establishment straight away !!!
