We had such an amazing stay! The room was modern and had everything we needed, also breakfast was great. It is quiet, but near the beach and restaurants. The owner was so nice and helpful, who went the extra mile for a perfect stay.

Host is super friendly, just like a best friend's mum. Both she and her son are very helpful. It's near a superb seafood restaurant, 20 mins driver from a nice beach. The place is spacious and clean, with racks to hang clothes.

Everything. To start with, the property itself. Absolutely beautiful settings, pool and room. It looks and feel very luxurious and secret, perfect place to relax after a lot of travelling through Sri Lanka. Squirrels running about and lots of colorful birds. The staff truly go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and to help you with your plans. I came to Lagoon Gate to relax, but being my hyperactive self, I was longing for things to do. When asking for a bicycle I was lent one right away and when I asked to visit Mulkirigala cave temple, not only was I provided with a tuktuk and driver in the next hour but a member of staff (Shan) even came with me and I gave me lots of explanations about the temple. I was then taken on a free kayak tour on the lagoon where I could see lots of wildlife. Oh, I had some absolutely delicious seafood at their restaurant. AND one of the best massage I've had in Sri Lanka un their little massage parlor in the gardens. Kind of an endless review, and I was only there for two days ! Just go there with your eyes closed, a must stay in Sri Lanka.

If you’re travelling south coast, this is a MUST visit. Host was amazing, arranged everything we wanted. Great food (cooked by his mother), both dinner & breakfast. The place itself is also amazing, beautiful house with private garden and table. He also arranged our safari to Udawalawa, 2 days after our stay.

It was incredible stay for us, especially experience on lagoon going throught lotus fields and watching sunset and bats was non-transferable experience. Also Mawella beach and little fisherman harbour had unforgettable poetics.And also it is impossible not to mension very comfortable beds in bungalows and very friendly and always helpful staff.Thank you, Suresh!

Wonderful experience, loving host family, amazing place. Perfect for rest and relaxation. Delicious cuisine, no need to go into town to eat, no need to worry about anything, the host is phenomenal. Hello everyone, as the name of the accommodation indicates, the Hidden Garden is calm and beautiful place. With one shortcut, it is located just 50m from the beach. The hosts are very kind, helpful and make very tasty breakfast. And the Tangalle area is just wonderful - long and lovely beaches with beautiful sunsets.

The owners and staff were delightful - the service great.

The owners and staff were delightful - the service great. The cabannes were in the style of my travels 50 years ago and a great reminder of how simple life can (and should) be. For eating there is plenty of choice in the area and all easy walking but not always in 32 deg 😂

Tangalle is a mix of typical large commercial local Sri Lankan town buzz combined with touristy beach / restaurant / bar area. Very laid back along that 'strip', many bars and restaurants vying for business so you can be selective.

Perfect place to relax by the beaches, some of them are like or similar a near private beach type; but, difficult to swim. Generally, the waves and current are rough and sometime dangerous to rocky beaches; in early morning time, 9-10 am, waves and current can be managed to some extent....

It’s more of a local sleepy town and less touristy than the rest of the south coast. Lots of great beaches and family run restaurants. I could have easily used it as a base and stayed longer had the weather been better.

Tangalle is a hidden gem!

Tangalle is a hidden gem! So many wonderful beaches around the town. I stayed by the Goyambokka beach but preferred the neighbouring Silent beach, which was longer and so beautiful. I had dinner at neighbouring South Sea Pearl Beach restaurant, which served amazingly delicious food.

The best hotel that we stayed in Sri Lanka. The host helped so much , proposed a lot of nice activities . The swimming pool is perfect size and some part in tend , so you can enjoy it at any time. We tried a massage and for sure would recommend ( nice atmosphere in middle of jungle). We also had a last dinner on a beach just with candles and stars. Beach is so big without anybody on it. The hotel is big , but you always feel like you are the only one there.

It’s a boutique hotel with ~ 10 chalets whilst property is really big which gives a lot a space for the guests. The bar / restaurant has the best view, the food ia great and the service excellent. The beach is quite yet with 10 minutes with the Tuk Tuk you’re in Tangalle. We had one of the bigger chalets which was great with the family.

The best hotel we stayed in during our 3 week tour of Sri Lanka. Friendly and helpful staff. lots of hidden extras offered during our stay. Peaceful and relaxing setting. Feels like you have a private beach.

The hotel is very close to the beach. The owner took us at night to see the turtles lay eggs. We only had one dinner there but it was by far the best meal we had in Sri Lanka.. And the best bed sheets😉

Spacious and clean property. Well maintained, located in quiet area, but close to Tangalle and Silent beach. Very friendly family runs the property. We were served great Sri Lankan breakfast.
