Perast is a magical place, almost removed from time.
Perast is a magical place, almost removed from time. The situation on the waterside surrounded in all sides by mountains is breathtaking. The walk along the promenade each evening is a rare pleasure. There are plentiful good restaurants inside Perast itself as well as local oyster and mussels farms a short walk from the town, that serve delicious food. A beautiful little town - relaxed, historic and picture perfect. Love that they have stopped cars entering the town. Restaurants along waterfront were all excellent, staff polite, helpful and spoke good English. Easy boat taxis to Our Lady of the Rocks. We stayed for a week because we were attending a family wedding. It’s a beautiful little gem of a place . Lots of good restaurants and the people are friendly I don’t think it’s great for children . Its such an idyllic location on the bay. Watching the sun set from the hotel terrace or eating breakfast there was a joy. Perast has a 14th Century church, with beautifully carved alter piece and marble floors. Ascending the church tower is a must to view the bay - but don't ring the bells! We also visited the small museum, which housed local historical objects and gave an overview of the history of Perast. The town square hosted two open air wedding receptions while we were there. Perast is a charming little gem on the Bay of Kotor, perfect for those who appreciate history and quiet beauty. I loved the old-town atmosphere—narrow stone streets, baroque buildings, and the stunning backdrop of mountains meeting the sea. While it doesn’t have beaches, the stone piers offer a peaceful place to swim or relax by the water. Even though I visited in the off-season, it was still fairly crowded, and parking was a real challenge due to the limited space. The hosts were super nice and chill, everything went smoothly. Kitchen and fridge. WiFi and TV. The terrace also had a great view, it was the perfect place to unwind and relax after the crowds of Kotor. Great pillows and mattress like a cloud. Everything was spotlessly clean! We stayed in the main building but there are 3 or 4 annexes dotted around Perast. They have golf buggies to get your luggage to these if need be. Parking is nearby (we didn’t use it) and the golf buggies are also used to pick you up from your car I believe. Amazing breakfast. Location excellent and waterfront dining was fantastic.
