In short, I definitely recommend staying in Shanti Nivas, I loved my stay there. Jay and Henry were very welcoming, helpful and overall great hosts. Their warm personality makes Shanti Nivas so exceptional. The rooms are spacious, airy, spotless clean and equiped with all the necessary amenities, including net against mosquitos (very useful). Balcony with outside seating area is again spacious and faces the beautiful garden Jay and Henry created. The garden is simply beautiful and it contains sizeable part of all Mauritian plant species (not kidding!), including impressive papaya tree and range of other plants, which attract fruit bats and various bird species. Definitely take the breakfasts, they are served in the garden and very yummy - selection of tropical fruits was lovely, but for me the special highlight was the omelette, the chats, and the red cardinal bird of course :) Also best value for money from the places we stayed in. The only thing to consider for pedestrian travellers is that the road to nearest beach or anywhere outside of the village is a for the adventurous folks as there is not much space for walking on the road and locals drive fast, but you can take local taxis/buses and if you have a car, this is no issue.

We loved everything about The Residence!! This place was immaculate, beautiful, peaceful, friendly. We loved it all. So much choice at breakfast and dinner. Attentive and friendly staff. A very warm and welcoming place to stay. The staff were very friendly and service minded. Very relaxing with all-inclusive. Good standard of food in the restaurant and great cocktails in the bar by the pool. We stayed at the hotel for 11 days in November 2025. We arrived at 9 AM, were immediately invited to breakfast and treated with genuine care. By 11 AM both of our rooms were ready. The rooms were very good overall; only minor wear was noticeable in the bathrooms. We stayed in ocean-front rooms with terraces, literally the first line from the shore, about 50 meters to the beach. Simply fantastic. No complaints regarding in-room equipment or amenities. The sea is wonderful, the beach is clean, well maintained, and pleasantly calm — no one bothers you. Sunbeds and loungers are plentiful, and outdoor showers are available in multiple spots. The hotel pool is well designed, with both a children’s area and a deeper section for adults. There is also an aquapark with slides, which was a great addition and very well implemented. Food was consistently good. The choice is wide, everything is fresh, and even those with a picky palate will find more than enough. Bars throughout the property are more than sufficient, so refreshments are always within reach. We were departing late in the evening and had to check out at 12. The reception staff offered us another room at no cost so we could stay comfortable until departure. The team at the front desk deserves special mention: attentive, responsive, and professional. You always feel that your needs and requests matter. In short, an excellent stay. We would happily return.
