Lovely place, the staff very friendly, hotel very accommodating. We also had meals which were very tasty. Breakfast was too. Nice setting and close to the centre. Quiet.

Typical Dutch Cafe, right on a square in the middle of town. Very helpful and friendly staff, first time anyone has offered to carry my luggage in years ! The food is also typical and very good, the service in the restaurant also quick, efficient and super friendly. My room was spacious and clean, and a very comfortable bed. It was all I was hoping for and more.

1. Superb Refreshing Breath-taking direct View towards the Ocean. 2. Hot water Jacuzzi in the Room. 3. Good sized Big Room. 4. Breakfast pretty good stuff just that the quantity is too much! Suggestion would be to change few items on the menu the 2nd day since it was the same things again.

We enjoyed and appreciated the Planetarium, Martena Museum...

We enjoyed and appreciated the Planetarium, Martena Museum and the Stadhuis, with guide which made it much more interesting. Franeker is a pretty ,small town. The museums are very good and they make it an interesting place to visit. The people we met were, without exception, very friendly.

Quaint and charming little town, we stayed for one night but...

Quaint and charming little town, we stayed for one night but actually we didn’t need to. We saw everything we wanted to in one day (on foot) and had dinner there. The nature is peaceful and beautiful and the Fries people living there are all very friendly. The planetarium was cool and the Museum Martena was really cool bcs we it was a little bit interactive.

It's a charming small town with a rich history which remains...

It's a charming small town with a rich history which remains mostly intact. We went for the Eise Eisinga Planetarium which was absolutely worth the trip. We also highly recommend the city museum, Museum Martena, a 'city castle' from 1506 which also has a nice garden, especially in the spring. I would have liked to visit the grand city hall as well, but it was closed that day.

Franeker is worth a visit and a great base for exploring the...

Franeker is worth a visit and a great base for exploring the surrounding area. The planetarium is definitely worth a visit. Good restaurants are within walking distance. Close to Harlingen, Dokkum, and all the other 11 cities of the Eleven Cities Tour.

Beautiful town! Lovely canals. Great restaurants. Good parking. Interesting history. Besides the planetarium, also visit the old town hall, the church, and the grain carrier's cottage! We stayed at the Stadsherberg hotel, which also has great food. It's a 10-minute walk from the center. Very convenient!

A charming town with a rich history and museums.

A charming town with a rich history and museums. Lovely restaurants with terraces, bakeries, and an ice cream parlor. Leeuwarden is a short train ride away if you're looking for a big city, or you can travel further afield to other charming towns. Harlingen and the Wadden Islands are also easily accessible from Franeker.

The location is perfectly situated next to the city's shopping district, making it the ideal place to be for a car free holiday. The apartment itself is beautifully decorated and well maintained, creating a lively atmosphere compared to the minimalistic or stale feeling you get from a basic hotel room. Add to this that the host is kind and approachable, and it becomes hard not to rate it a perfect score. I'll definitely be visiting again.

Tjarda was a great hostess and super helpful. We loved the Fries vibe and the BnB was amazing. We travel quite a bit- but this was one of the best. Close to bnb is a lovely restaurant. Very reasonable and super staff Albert Heijn supermarket close. Franeker is duch a sweet and still ‘functional’ town- not a tourist trap. Loved this visit! Thanks
