I enjoyed a great three night stay at Het Schuurhuis. Everything from the bed to the breakfast and all things in between were perfect. The room is large and clean, with a firm bed and a spacious bathroom. There is also garden seating. Breakfast is excellent and includes meat, eggs, cheese, yoghurt, breads and fruit. But the very best bit is Annet, the wonderful, friendly, helpful host. So don't hesitate - make the booking and enjoy.

Great reception by the host. Amazing interior. They have their own little library/museum going on in the common room for the guests. The breakfast was definitely worth its price as well. Oh and don't let the toilet bat get you! ;) (you will know what I mean when you book here)

It was amazing! Best family weekend here. Pretty and quiet location. Breakfast was very yummy, everything what you need and if you have some special need for your breakfast it’s not problem at all. In kitchen is everything, even aluminium foil or paper towels or plastic cups/plates for children. And the bed? Small and charming, unfortunately, the town itself was also...

Small and charming, unfortunately, the town itself was also in holiday mode. Many businesses were either closed or had adjusted hours. We highly recommend Gulle Bourgondiér, just a 15-minute drive away. A bit dated, but the atmosphere was great.

A lovely old property with friendly owners who are restoring it slowly. The spacious rooms are full of antiques. The breakfast was excellent. We could walk to the middle of Stadskanaal and drive to an interesting fortified medieval village named Bourtange.
