This was a great place to spend some time with the family! Easy access, lovely views and very exciting, especially for the kids. Loved the upstairs sleeping area. Enjoyed rowing and swimming in the lake.

Amazing treehouse in the forest. So quiet. Use of the boat to row to the pontoon in the lake where we could jump and dive into the water was great fun. We had a brilliant time here. Kitchen was well equipped. Bird watching fantastic. A relaxing stay.

Halden is a slightly different Østfold town, especially...

Halden is a slightly different Østfold town, especially considering the surroundings. The towns are beautifully situated down by the fjord and between the hills. Fredriksten Fortress "watches over" the town, which has some nice, old wooden houses, especially on the north side of the river. In the summer, there are cozy restaurants down by the pier.

Enjoyed Fredriksten Fortress, ate one evening at a restaurant down by the pier and was served good pizza. It is easy to get around Halden, but a bit too small a town. Probably won't come to Halden again

Beautiful old town, unfortunately somewhat "morbid" in places: some empty/decaying buildings, but also many magnificent, historic facades. Numerous restaurants and cafes (unless you come on a Monday). Cozy harbor with great restaurants. Recommendation: Restaurant Bryggekanten. Great burgers, excellent steaks, delicious beer! Large, impressive fortress on the hill.

Halden is a beautiful city with a large and beautiful fortress. Lots of old wooden houses that are well maintained. Lots of history, and a good atmosphere! Many hiking trails, and great viewpoints. A mecca for car enthusiasts, and there are many small roads you can drive on.

Amazing, absolutely crazy delicious breakfast. Best hotel breakfast I have had in a looong time. Everything was really tasty, but also local, sustainable and ethically farmed, love it. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location had you right by Festningen, so beautiful surroundings, but still easy to get into town.

The breakfast was not too bad but the location to Halden is such that you need a car. There is a bus service but they don't run that often.
