A place we’ll continue to visit after getting married in the Domkirkeodden (cathedral ruins) 10 years ago. It’s peaceful but with plenty to see and do and only 1hr 45 from Oslo. Lake mjøsa is stunning and if you follow the lake trail you’ll find lots to photograph, enjoy the scenery and culture as well (don’t miss the famous Skiblandener which runs during the summer months) There is beaches safe for swimming and lots of great places to eat out. Getting about by foot is easy although some stepper sections but the bus is well connected and easy to use.

Hamar is a charming little town with history in its architecture, good access to Lake Mjøsa, and some really cool places to grab a bite to eat and a drink. I mainly travel to Hamar for work, but I can imagine visitors spending a nice day or two in the city. Highlights: Matkvartalet and Domkirkeodden.

The town of Hamar lies on the shores of Norway's largest lake. A relaxed atmosphere prevails, reflecting the typical Norwegian serenity. There is a wide selection of restaurants, and the ambiance along the lakeside promenade is wonderful. One could certainly easily spend another day or two here.

Hamar as a city isn't particularly worth seeing. It has the lakefront, but especially in March you have to go further afield to ski, and all the activities in the city (e.g., museums, sports facilities) are still closed. That was a shame.

Hamar is well-located for excursions to the surrounding area, the lake, and Oslo, and also boasts several interesting museums. The lakeside area is ideal for walks, and the views are beautiful. Public transport services were reliable even during the peak summer season.

A charmless den that has completely abused its location by...

A charmless den that has completely abused its location by the lake. The only places closest to the lake were the railway and industrial areas. We arrived there on a Sunday for an overnight stay and it turned out that the town was stone dead. Everything was closed except for a pizzeria. And this was during the peak tourist season. Tip: Don't go here…

I have been here several times, so i knew what to expect. Especially the huge breakfast buffet is amazing! Not really crowded this time, so we basically had the breakfast almost for ourselves! Rooms are comfy and clean, bed is almost too comfy (especially if you have a bad back). We were visiting friends and took a stroll down Hamar beach, all the city center restaurants are nearby and the railway station is basically across the street.

Nice and cosy accommodation with good location (close to the public transport and supermarket) in Hamar. If you're not looking for luxury, but a homely, warm environment in a well-equipped apartment, you'll feel great here. I would like to highlight the extremely kind, empathetic and helpful attitude of the owners who accommodated absolutely every request we had. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it!

Check-in is self- service which we liked best. Clean room and super surprise that they using rituals products in the bathrooms and in the swimming showers and toilets which is not usual in many hotels we've been😁 Breakfast is superb! Staff are approachable
