Engage with the locals, visit the markets, and get out and about. Hire a bike and travel at a suitable pace, if you time it right, spend the day at a village Show Day. Self-transport is a necessity ( car, bike or walking) Be aware that as Niue is pretty flat biking is a breeze but the dogs ( very friendly without exception) may chase you at times. As a vegan traveller be prepared to bring suitable food for your stay as meat and fish are the mainstay, although Fanas Cafe will do vegan.

I loved my time on Niue, though the food was very expensive so I cooked my own food. One needs to hire a car or bike to get around. Visiting tourist spots you have the whole place to yourself. The same with swimming and beaches - great.
