    what happened to lower hutt - i grew up there that town was...

    what happened to lower hutt - i grew up there that town was a buzzing hive of activity when i left 20 years ago i come back and the town looks dirty, old and empty. there is no life there! The mall was a joke, what has happened i use to love lower hutt, the shops are all closed. it is the saddest thing i have ever seen.

    We left straight away and did not stay.

    We left straight away and did not stay. The driveway was completely dangerous, we got stuck half way up and had to walk back down to the bottom to find help. There was no way we could have been able to come and go as needed. The house was also freezing. We contacted to say it was dangerous and unsuitable and would be leaving straight away and got a notification the message had been read but received no reply.

    There is a lot to do in Lower Hutt and things you can see...

    There is a lot to do in Lower Hutt and things you can see and do plus the city is only a bus or train ride away. If you are new to the city use the public transport to get out and about leave you vehicle where it is as parking can be expensive.

    We spent most of our time in Petone and also travelled by bus into Wellington City. We did not visit Lower Hutt central at all so we are not qualified to give an opinion on this. The bus trip into Wellington City was convenient as the bus stopped on the main street of Petone. Petone itself, has an interesting range of shops and restaurants. We enjoyed two meals at the Empire Hotel as it was across the street from Quest.

    Lower Hutt is a good place to stay when traveling to the Capital City. No matter where you stay, you will find a great cafe around. There is the Hutt river where you can go for a picnic or take a walk around. The Queensgate Mall is also a great place for shopping or to catch a movie. There are Medical emergency clinics on the main streets and the Hutt Hospital when needed. Some great restaurants you can choose from, including the Angus restaurant which I thought serves amazing meals of choices.
