A cute lil fishing village with a lot of vibe.

A cute lil fishing village with a lot of vibe. Newly built walkways around the coast, lots of wonderful restaurants - with takeaway options. The 4-square is very well supplied and people are friendly and relaxed. The ocean waves lap in here, nice wee spot with excellent scenery with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Lovely accommodation at really reasonable prices.

Staff were friendly however there was a power cut so no tv, unable to buy food or drinks. Power was off for a lengthy time it would have been nice to get an update or a discount. Other than that it’s always nice to stay

A nice little place to stop over for a few days, especially summertime. A good place to start exploring the Northern part of the country. Some good food and coffee places to visit, shopping etc. A likeable sea/beach place to spend some time relaxing.

Mangonui is a pleasant small place with a beautiful waterfront. Considering its size it has a good range of eating places as well as a supermarket. The heritage trail is interesting and also a good walk, although there are some steep sections once you leave the waterside. There are good views all around. At low tide there is an interesting range of bird life on the exposed mud. There is obviously good fishing. This a good place to tke a trip up to Cape Reinga and the nearby KariKari peninsula has a winery and good beaches.

I loved the location and the privacy. Both my hubby and I had a great time. We were up looking at real estate and after a long day it was so good to come home into the Olive grove and just unwind. There are many b&b's up in mangonui but this stands out. No one's paying me to write this I have traveled the world and yes there's beautiful hotels and the rest this doesn't have the glam like hotel but it's not suppose to it does have the peace and quiet and views of the olive grove and the inlet. I loved it.

We had a wonderful stay at the Old Oak. The building itself is gorgeous, a well preserved slice of Mangonui history. We were warmly welcomed on arrival by our hosts. The property exceeded our expectations, the room was beautifully decorated, clean and warm, with a super comfy bed. The property is a short stroll along the boardwalk to some great eateries in Mangonui. Such a lovely romantic place to stay. Highly recommended. We will be back!
