We lived in Omarama approximately 30 years ago. It was lovely to see the progress in the town. There is plenty of places to eat out and all of them offer a good range of food, with friendly efficient staff.

Often overlooked as a passing point to more exotic destination, this little stop over town has a few worthy attractions; the Clay Cliffs, the Ahuriri River, the Hot tub and the Glider rides etc.
It is also near Twizel and Lake Ohau too.

Great little settlement - the Clay Cliffs were spectacular and a definite must-see. The Hot Tubs were so lovely afterwards - very private and in a peaceful outdoor setting. Absolutely loved them. Had a meal at the local pub which was also very good.

There are two places to eat in the village.
There are two places to eat in the village. A hotel which caters for tour parties. The bufet looked average. The ala carte menue, which looks interesting is not available every night (barman said). It was available when I was there, but the staff seamed very reluctant to offer it. The steak was limp (looked like it had been cooked in a sous vide, but not flash fried at a high enough temperature) and everything was way, way over salted!!! I was Would not recomend it.
The pub was lovely, good food, great staff and welcoming. Would recomend it.

It was a spur of the moment booking as we had a problem with our car. Great hotel for overnight or several days. Friendly helpful staff, clean rooms if a bit "tired". Arrived late and left early so didn't eat on the premises.

I love the scenery and climate there and the locals we met were friendly and helpful.
I recommend The Pink Glider for a meal as well as the kebab truck on the highway. Both have super staff and good food.
Omarama provides a really pleasant holiday get away.

The unit was clean and comfortable and had handy cooking facilities. The motel was in an ideal location for my friends and I who were attending the Gibbston Valley event on the Saturday afternoon. We drove from Oamaru and were able to break our trip at Omarama overnight and then head off to Gibbston Valley early the next morning. We returned to the motel on the Saturday night.

Very peaceful place. The man at reception was very helpful telling us about the hot tubs in Omarama. A short 2 minute walk to the local pub/ restaurant Boots and Jandles, great food and service there aswell.... Good people in Omarama. Oh and I really liked the little bottle of milk and mints in our room.

Very nice common space with amazing views of the mountains.. The atmosphere of the hotel was very relaxing and reminded us of our old family house (outdated but clean and feels quite homey). The general manager and team are doing their best to restart this hotel after the prolonged closure during Covid
