Right in town close to cafe's and restaurants and the jetty. Our family stayed in one of the waterfront apartments that had stunning views over the bay. The staff were extremely helpful and the apartments couldn't have been better set up with every comfort of home.

Annie nailed it! This cottage has everything the traveller could need tucked away in it, along with the understanding of what storage is required and where. It was also beautiful sitting outside on the patio, among all the flowers and trees on the property. These were populated by birds, so quite lovely. The place was extremely clean.

Do yourself a favour and stay for a few days at this wonderful place. There are so many walks, and lots of beautiful spots to explore. It would be a shame to limit yourself to the main street. The museum and the French Printery are certainly worth a visit, as is getting up to the top of Flagstaff Hill and having a coffee from the van on Long Beach. The 4 Square shop is well stocked and reasonably priced if you are self catering.

I have been to Russell a couple of times before but only as...

I have been to Russell a couple of times before but only as day visits so to be honest Ive only stayed in the little township itself but loved that. This time I stayed a night to attend a function. The motel was the icing on the cake because where you stay can make or break a stay anywhere. The view of the harbour below with boats anchored..you couldn't beat. I want to come back..and my friend and I intend to. It's handiness was great. Great afternoon of shopping..something for everyone & delightful 'The Grazing table' cafe for home cooked sweets with delicious coffee. Would have liked to spend more time in the fabulous looking book store..great looking coffee table books on display but I ran out of time. There is something for everyone here. Russell town can easily be walked around in a short time without stopping..but who wants to do that. It's a lovely, interesting quaint place with a lovely harbour looking over to Paihia where you go to connect to main highway..eventually. A day passenger ferry runs regularly from Paihia & to. There are other areas to visit over the hill and the car ferry over from Opua is very quick and efficient. And least but not forgotten..the fantastic Duke of Marlborough hotel and accomodation with its elegance gracing the shoreline is a highlight. I had a lovely evening supportng the Recuse Helicopters fundraising event..it was spent under gorgeous chandelier lighting with all the simple but lovely table settings. Surely a grand gentleman which began in 1827 as 'Johnny Johnsons Grog Shop' by an ex convict come good!

A beautiful serene village.

A beautiful serene village. You need to be prepared to walk & explore the area. Lovely places to eat & drink - our most favourite is Hones Kitchen. Getting out on the water in a boat is an added bonus

One of my favourite places to visit.

One of my favourite places to visit. The views over the water, wandering around the town and awesome restaurants like the French Cafe at the end of the waterfront. So relaxing and peaceful and friendly people.

Beachfront walk, Pompallier House, French cafe next to Pompallier House, Christ Church historic Anglican church, especially the 10:30am service, the Russell Museum with extensive collections exceptionally well-presented and amazing and only $10. Long Beach. Boat trip to Urupukapuka Island and Cape Brett and Hole in the Rock. Okiato 7km away which was the early capital around 1840-1842, and had the site of the first Government House.

A lot of things to do from, the tours, to just walk around town, close proximity, of ferry system. I would have liked to chose to stay longer, did not have enough time. The unit I chose was just at the city, line, and thus close enough, if you forgot anything, takes 5 minutes to go bac,k to Bnb, from city center,

Overall, this property was exceptional. I thought I had booked a basic apartment, considering the price - but the actual property was impeccable. Rooms were recently renovated, fully equiped and comfortable. Host instructions were clear and support when I needed it was amazing. Amenities were great, location was only a few hundred metres walk to waterfront and restaurants. Highly recommended for your stay in Russell. (NB stayed with 2adults, 2 children: apartment was small but perfect for our stay for a few days!)

Jenny & Peter were great hosts. Jenny gave us a lovely warm welcome and our Cottage was wonderful - spacious, comfortable, clean and in a fantastic location. Peter knocked on our door each morning with a tray of freshly baked breads, croissants / banana bread for breakfast. The cottages are a stones-throw away from Russell which really is an idyllic place to visit in the Bay. We had an amazing time in the beautiful Bay of Islands - thank you Jenny & Peter.

Wendy the host greeted us upon arrival, and very kindly upgraded us as we had a two year old, so he had his own room. The cabin was ideal, good kitchen, comfy bed and the pool was handy too. Washing facilities were handy too. The motel is in a great location and walking distance (5 mins) to Russell. Would definitely stay here again.
