The room was exceptional. The staff, especially the two ladies working the breakfast counter, were even better than that!

Santa Fe is a low key ordinary village.

Santa Fe is a low key ordinary village. We liked it for its lack of frills. There's a Danish run pizza place and a couple of coffee shops (we didn't go to either just saw them). The rest is normal Panamanian stuff, 2 mini Supermarkets and a few cafes with typical Panamanian food. There are rivers and waterfalls to bathe in but all except one would need a car (or bike) to get to. I'd say it was a one horse town except we saw 3 wandering about! The scenery is fantastic, so many different trees and so many hills. The road to the coast is finished and is lovely and smooth. There's a restaurant at the end of the road for lunch. The road from Santiago gets better as you get along it but takes 1.5 to 2 hours for the 35 miles to Santa Fe

Santa Fé is a beautiful mountain town in western Panama.

Santa Fé is a beautiful mountain town in western Panama. It's located in a valley bordered by mountains which form part of an impressive natural reserve north of the town. The town itself appears to be easy-going and quiet —save for the odd bar— but the focus of the place is elsewhere: the very diverse ecosystems that exist all around it, from river habitats to cloud forests. You can either scale bare mountains and take in breathtaking views or go deep into the jungle and see unique wildlife, and the trails go as far as you may like. The area is also known for its organic farming and the town has played an important part in the history of Panama.

When you go to Santa Fe, prepare for the hikes, the horse riding and make sure that in Santiago you fill up the gas tank to the max (Llenó porfa). The restaurants are simple, but there is a Thai gem. Try to get lucky by staying in that hotel and enjoy the cooking that after 7,5 years in Panamá I have not found. Simple and honest Thai food is of course a joy for every 48 years old backpacker (now by 2x4 car by the way).

Santa Fe is a great place to discover the real Panama.

Santa Fe is a great place to discover the real Panama. There are many routes to explore in the area and several places to visit. We visited María and Chon's farm, and it was wonderful. I wouldn't have minded staying another day.

Hiking in the national park is not highly recommended.

Hiking in the national park is not highly recommended. Information is only available on the main road. Beyond that, there are no signs indicating which trail to take. There is also no warning that you need to bring water (2-3 liters) as there are no fountains.

It's a very beautiful town, ideal for relaxing, enjoying outdoor activities, and hiking. There are many rivers and waterfalls both near and far from the town center. There are many very fresh, locally sourced products, especially vegetables and tubers. The climate in Santa Fe is truly pleasant and very cool.

Anachoreo Hotel is small, quaint and peaceful. All the rooms have a beautiful view of the mountains. The breakfast is excellent and inclusive in the room price. We had dinner every night there and it was fabulous. The personnel is so attentive of the guest needs. The morning front desk lady, Ines, was extremely helpful in organizing the activities we wanted to do. Would definitively recommend it.

The place is nice and we really enjoyed Santa Catalina and its surroundings ! People at Hotel Yasmin are incredibly nice, you can ask something they will find a way to help you. When we arrived they proposed us a bigger room that was available. Coffee is made every morning in the common kitchen. We observed birds, turtles, squirrels and butterflies from our room window. Thanks !

This is a lovely family-run hotel, clean and airy rooms surrounding a gorgeous pool in the beautiful village of Santa Fe. I would more than recommend this hotel and its lovely homely vibe! We stayed at other places in Santa Fe as well, but this exceeded them all. Thank you Rainforest Yasmin!

It does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s clean, comfortable and central to Santa Fe. Ricardo, the host is as welcoming as always ( this is the second time we’ve stayed here), including making the coffeee in the morning - delicious.
