From the outside it might appear a bit anonymous. However, once you enter a beautiful Japanese atmosphere and top notch service from the staff meets you throughout the stay. I had the choice to pick between Hilton and Marriott - but Okura with it’s authenticity outmaneuveres them both.

FAQs about hotels in Manila

The City of Our Affections

With a rich mix of influences from Indians, Chinese, Spanish and Americans, Manila is the vibrant capital of the Philippines and its cultural and economic centre. Thanks to the trade with Latin America during the three centuries of Spanish colonisation, Manila became an important city, known as the ‘Pearl of Orient’.

Don’t miss a visit to the Spanish remains in the Intramuros district. Important landmarks in the area are the Malacañan Palace, the City Hall, and the Manila Cathedral.

Rizal Park is a national icon, while the Baywalk promenade is great for enjoying the well-known city sunsets. Ermita and Malate districts are famous for the nightlife, trendy shopping and restaurants, as well as for some luxury Manila hotels. Between the promenade and the districts, its easy to see why Filipinos call Manila, “The City of Our Affections” where the people's love affairs with fashion, music, entertainment and sheer fun are on bright and beautiful display.

Divisoria is a traditional district for local shopping, bargains and typical food. Binondo is the oldest Chinatown in the world.

For hotels in Manila near the airport, Ninoy Aquino International Airport is not far from Makati City, where a second cluster of hotels are located.

We stayed 10 days in Manila due to our sons gymnastics competition. For us 10 days was way too long .Manila has lots of shopping malls including the largest Mall of Asia. So if you like shopping its great! Other then that there was not much for us to do . We stayed at two different hotel\apartments. Marriott at Newport was wonderful and Lanson Place was good. Makati at night was interesting ,reminded me of Kings Cross in Sydney.Lots of different characters. You have to be careful in these areas as there are some dodgy people out there. We nearly got played by kids as young as 10 years old. They tried to pick pocket us. Interesting night!

Never stay there. EVER!

Never stay there. EVER! Stay away from the philippines all together, it's like a dumpster infested with rats and perverts. Even Manila airport is horrid and was a disastrous experience. Nothing works, 5 months there I've witnessed constant power outages around the islands, Wifi rarely works, cellular is disfunctional, constant blackouts, even in Cebu electricity can go out randomly for most of the day, garbage stinks, rats at the restaurants, some disgusting old foreigners who clearly need psychiatric help, plus I witnessed 4 big earthquakes, rainstorms for weeks and Super Tsunami. Never again. not even if I got paid 10,000$. Vietnam sucks too. Thailand is 100x better

It's been a happy moment seeing all the progress and the city's beautiful tourist destinations. Hope to visit several areas together with my family next time around. The worst thing is that there is so much traffic that it can worsen my staycation in Manila.

For people who are used to living in cities, I highly recommend the Malate district of Manila. You can see the vibrant energy of the people there, and the food ranges from high-end to street food. It's often said to be a dangerous city, but I didn't feel particularly scared during my trip there. You can sense the dangerous areas by the atmosphere. And Filipinos are very kind, always greeting you with a smile. It's fun just to watch them. It's a great country.

The breakfast was really exceptional in this price class, also a good coffee and you have a view over Manila while eating. I was in a similar hotel before with much less options. The room was very quiet, I could relax very well. A good customer service there, cleaning staff always had a smile. Staff always was ready to help me with lots of Taxis I used. The location is perfect, you are in Intramuros but at the border and so you can walk easily to the big Shopping Mall, the train station, Mayors house and to two museums nearby.

I had a great stay at Ramada Encore by Wyndham Makati. The hotel is in an excellent location, making it easy to reach popular areas around Manila. My room was spacious with a decent city view, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I also loved that the property has a skybar with amazing views; unfortunately, it was closed due to rain during my stay. I would recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again.

We stay at this hotel when travelling through Manila for short overnight stays due to its proximity to NAiA airport. Rooms are not large but substantially bigger than similar short stay hotels in other cities such as Singapore, HK etc and also less expensive. Staff are friendly and helpful. It's a reliable and safe hotel.

Enjoyed my stay overall. Breakfast buffet was surprisingly good. Loved the fresh bread and butters. Onsen Spa access is a bonus that I was not able to find in other Manila Hotels in previous places. Was not able to check out their rooftop bar but heard good things. Will be back!
