Death Valley was closed due to flooding caused by landslides...
Death Valley was closed due to flooding caused by landslides (!). We stayed overnight at the Longstreet Inn & Casino in the Amargosa Valley. While it wasn't a substitute for driving through Death Valley, it was the only possible alternative. And we liked it. The food in the restaurant was good. There's also a small supermarket.

This is the only choice, besides the hotels in the Death Valley. It is conveniently located in Nevada, so there is a Casino and the gas station is cheaper than in California. Rooms are quiet and comfortable. They are a little rundown but clean.

Good place to sleep on our roadtrip. They have some nice decoration outside the hotel, in the back, worth checking
