Comfortable and spacious holiday cottage, a restored station, traditionally furnished, lots of homely touches, everything one needs. The splash pool was fun, and great to cool off in the heat. A warm welcome, a basket of tea and coffee, fresh pomegranates and the best apricot jam. Walks to look at plants and rocks, a game drive to see giraffe and antelopes. And just sitting on the stoep and ‘being’ in the space and tranquillity of the Karoo.

Loved being able to relax and recharge at this awesome property while being in the Karoo desert. The house was amazing with everything I needed, from the kitchen to the bathroom and the large living area. The little touches all make a difference to the feel of the place - the large spacious lounge, the beautiful wooden counter tops in the kitchen and the stone floor in the bathroom shower - loved it. In particular I loved the skylight that allowed me to lie in bed and see the stars at the same time! The air feels so clear there. Added bonus was having the dam in front of the house with a small water view, and having the remnants of the old railway station across the road gave me sense of history of the area.

I liked the "antique" (decoration) furnishings combined with modern amenities. It was quiet and the best place to fall completely out of touch with the "real" world and it's pressures. The cottage privacy and the venue solitude gave us the opportunity to reconnect with each other. This was a short weekend stay but a very valuable and refreshing one. The hosts also, went beyond the expected to make sure we were OK - this is a long story you can ask them about!

Zandfontein Bush Camp and Game Farm is an absolute hidden gem for anyone seeking peace, a connection with nature, and an authentic South African wilderness experience. From the very first moment, we felt warmly welcomed and completely at ease. The accommodation is lovingly designed – rustic, yet equipped with all the comfort one could need. We were especially impressed by the incredible silence at night, beneath a breathtaking starry sky – far away from light pollution and the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The beds were extremely comfortable, everything was spotlessly clean, and the décor matched the natural surroundings perfectly. The hosts were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about making our stay unforgettable. They gave us wonderful tips for wildlife spotting on the property, and indeed, during our stay we were able to watch zebras and antelope through the camp’s own telescope. If you're looking for an immersive nature experience with privacy, this is the perfect place. We will definitely return – Zandfontein is a place where you can truly unwind and recharge.
