Nice hotel at the harbour, with a big hot tub overlooking the fjord and surrounding mountains. The decor of the hotel is cozy but stylish. Staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk into the door. There is a nice bar and a comfy lounge overlooking the water. Sunna, the restaurant within the hotel serves fantastic food, probably the best we had in Iceland. While you're here, do visit the herring era museum, which is just across the road.

Definitely a memorable experience and would even dare to say, a mandatory stop on your Icelandic roadtrip. Not only was the breakfast the best food we had in Iceland with a great variety of fresh dishes, the location of the hotel is unique (our room had a view to the lush green mountains that are incredibly scenic), the staff was extremely kind and attentive (with a special shout out to the Portuguese gentleman) and facilities makes you stay for a longer period of time (i.e., Spa, thermal baths, ice showers and relaxation rooms overlooking the glaciers and giving an great sense of calmness and relaxation). This was our second time to stay in this hotel. Percect location just a few steps from the geysir area. The breakfast is very good with a view to the Strokkur geysir. The rooms are comfortable (good beds, big windows, nice bathroom)
