I liked many things about Nuga Retreat. First of all, the beautiful, natural surroundings with mountain views created a unique atmosphere of peace and relaxation. The rooms were comfortable and well-equipped, providing convenience, and the outdoor pool was a great place to unwind. I also really appreciated the friendly and helpful staff who truly made an effort to ensure our stay was enjoyable.

From the very first moment, we felt right at home. The hosts were incredibly caring and kind, making us feel like part of their family. Their warm welcome and continuous attentiveness made our stay truly special. One highlight was definitely the tour with the host (Rabi) to see the lorises. These fascinating creatures, which are hardly seen anywhere else in the world, left us completely enchanted. It was a wonderful experience that we highly recommend. Thank you for this unforgettable time – we will definitely be coming back!

Absolutely amazing stay super close to the Udawalava national park entrance. Amazing hospitality and super culinary experience. One of the best stays in Sri Lanka for sure.

Leel and his family are the most amazing people, and the property is just beautiful! The rooms are what I'd call Sri Lankan jungle-chich, very curated clean and comfy. We had lunch, dinner and a breakfast on-the-go and the food was always great. Leel personally guided our safari and it was awesome, he is very knowledgeable and loves what he does, which is very visible :) He even offered to take us to our next destination with his jeep, providing us with a panoramic fun trip there. We would definitely recommend this property but don't book too much, we're hoping to find it available next time we come too ;)

Best staff I have experienced. The guys were so friendly. They are amazing. The food and the spice route made this a 9+ experience. They deserve everything that is coming to them. Well done! We booked this hotel on our first day, since it was close to the airport, we might book on our last day as well.

I absolutely loved staying at the villa! The location was perfect, offering both tranquility and easy access to nearby attractions. 1)Mirissa Beach 2) Madiha and Polhena beach 3) Kamburugamuwa beach 4) coconut tree hill The villa itself was superb — spacious, beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The outdoor space, with its stunning views, breakfast was superb, was especially amazing. The attention to detail in every aspect, from the amenities to the service, truly made it a memorable experience." If you're planning a down-south tour, I highly recommend staying at this villa. It's the perfect combination of luxury, comfort, and location, offering everything you need for a relaxing and memorable experience. Whether you're here to unwind or explore the area, this place is ideal for both.

The rooms were also very spacious, very well made and very clean. had their special srilankan rice & curry which was superb.

10/10 – I honestly have no words. This is hospitality at the highest level. Everyone is incredibly attentive, always there for a quick chat, but never intrusive. You just feel genuinely cared for from the first minute to the last. The property itself is stunning – beautifully designed, extremely clean and perfectly maintained. And for anyone who, like me, is a bit scared of bugs: I was worried about mosquitos at first, but it turned out to be a complete non-issue. There’s no mosquito net and still… nothing. I have no idea how they do it, but it works. 😄 Breakfast is absolutely unreal – if you stay long enough, you basically get to taste everything Sri Lanka has to offer. Every morning feels like a little food adventure. The guestbook is also such a gem: full of heartfelt messages and genuinely useful insider tips for the area – we used it a lot. A special shout-out to the dogs – I absolutely loved them! They’re hilarious, calm and a bit reserved at first, but still super friendly and affectionate if you want some cuddles. They fit the whole vibe of the place perfectly. Pool, yoga shala – they have it all. Yet it somehow never feels like a big anonymous resort, but intimate, peaceful and deeply personal. I could write a whole novel about how unique this villa is, but that would probably break the review format. So I’ll keep it short: Villa Mayava is a true gem. Huge thanks to Carol and the entire team – it’s unbelievable what you’ve created here and every single one of you deserves a big round of applause. 🫶

The host are experienced hoteliers and very welcoming. The place itself is a paradise with a beautiful garden and nice pool to escape the heat. Would really highly recommend staying here! Unfortunate we only stayed for one night.

My stay was absolutely delightful. The room was spacious and beautifully designed, and the whole place felt peaceful and lovingly created. The garden is a calm little oasis in the middle of the jungle. From the very first moment, it was incredibly easy to switch off and feel completely taken care of. A big part of that feeling came from Janaka, the perfect host, who does everything to make every guest feel welcome. Thank you so much! The whole team is kind and attentive, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. I left with a full heart and would return any time.
