Very spacious room with an incredible view of Ihema lake. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. And Monique is an excellent chef. Great location for visiting Akagera park.

I spent two wonderful nights at Umurobyi Lodge in Kibuye and was deeply impressed from the very first moment. The owners gave me such a warm and genuine welcom. Their attention to every detail made my stay truly special. The full-board arrangement was perfect, with delicious meals carefully prepared and beautifully presented each day. The lodge itself is majestic yet cozy, offering a touch of luxury within a warm, family-style atmosphere. It truly feels like a home away from home. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking (Lake Kivu shimmering at sunrise, swimming cows along the shore, and the mysterious beauty of Bat Island nearby). A big thank-you to the entire team for making my stay unforgettable. I cannot wait to return!

Great new lodge, very nice location close to the park entrance. The rooms are very clean with nice view. Very good food and nice staff.

It was very clean and comfortable

What a wonderful place to stay. We had a very warm welcome. The two sisters that own the guest house are thoroughly professional and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and honestly the best cappuccino! Sadly for us we were only there for one night but I would highly recommend it.

The staffs are extremely friendly and helpful. They always try their best to make us feel comfortable and help to answer all of our questions. The management team is very responsive. They even helped to recommend tour agencies and drivers when we were planning our itineraries. The resort is helping women to get quality job. The resort is very close to the headquarter of Volcanoes National Park, just a 20 minutes drive, so we get to prepare our activities in the Park with ease. The kitchen of the hotel is pretty nice too, as a vegan, they provide me a lot of options.

Ruhondo island retreat was fantastic - both in terms of natural beauty and as a gateway to many local community experiences around lake Ruhondo. Jean was amazing and led us on a hike and community visit - he shared awesome info about the area where he was born. The tents were awesome - with great hot water showers. The food was also excellent, the chef Elias did a great job! I would recommend visiting lake Ruhondo , and the retreat, as an alternative to lake Kivu.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Umutuzo Lodge, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. What truly set this stay apart was the exceptional staff. Every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure the stay was perfect. Their warmth, professionalism, and willingness to assist with any request made a significant difference and added a personal touch that I greatly appreciated. From the stunning scenery and beautifully appointed rooms to the outstanding service provided by the staff, everything exceeded my expectations. Lovely place, well located, amazing staff, very good food, comfortable common areas and rooms, attention to detail including boot cleaning, foot massages, bed warmers, nice fireplace in room, bathrobes and slippers, tea in room, lovely garden, etc.
