Opening in March 2014, Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shinmachi Bettei offers accommodations with a modern yet traditional décor. Nos encantó el hotel. Super bien ubicado en el corazón de Kyoto, con detalles muy bonitos que dan un aire de casa clasica pero aprovechando todas las modernidades. El cuarto doble es muy amplio y comodo. Tiene todas las amenidades, baño privado y areas muy bonitas en el hotel, incluyendo baños publicos (pero sin ser onsen). El personal es super amable y algunos hablaban suficiente español además del inglés. También nos ayudaron a enviar nuestras maletas grandes a nuestro siguiente hotel en Tokyo.

Very nice hostel, at Kyoto station which is convenient for bus, subway and trains to all temples and places of interest! Hostel is very clean, showers and toilets included. Would definitely recommend to stay here!

Staying at Eko-in was an exceptional and unforgettable experience. I highly recommend booking the Okunoin cemetery night tour—it was both atmospheric and deeply moving. The meals are fully vegetarian and beautifully presented. If you're not a fan of tofu, some of the dinner dishes might not be to your taste—but that, too, is part of the cultural and spiritual experience. I was initially anxious about sleeping on a traditional futon, but it turned out to be surprisingly comfortable and added to the overall sense of authenticity. A truly unique stay.

Founded in the 12th century and beloved by Junichiro Tanizaki and other Japanese novelists, Tosen Goshobo is the oldest of the hot-spring inns at Arima. Arima Onsen is close to Kobe, but has a nice countryside feel about it. Our room was much larger than expected, the staff were attentive and friendly, and the onsen was very good, with the famous Arima golden water (salty and with high iron content). A nice detail in the onsen was that the gender seperating wall was lower at the end, enabling a conversation with my wife. The food was also very good, we stayed 2 nights and had 1 night dinner and breakfast in our room (for an extra charge). The ryokan also offers a free shuttle to the Arima Ropeway and to the railway station. The salon was also nice with free coffee and lots of books and a high-end tube amplifier. The building is wooden and old, so expect to hear some noise from your neighbours, but nothing too bad.
