The hotel itself is of strong Japanese style and it’s really clean, bright and spacious. The staff are very welcoming. Also we enjoy the indoor bath there. Defo an amazing place to stay.

It features a spacious and comfortable lounge, a tatami (woven-straw) terrace and a wall-size map with latest event information around Kyoto. Free WiFi is provided throughout the property, while portable WiFi devices are available for guests to use during their stay for an additional fee. The staff was great, they helped us deliver the phone my father forgot in the bullet train to the hostel, which at the Lost and Found office told us is going to be very difficult for an accomodation to do. The place is very clean, showers are separated in sort of mini rooms so there is a lot of privacy. There are dyson hair dryers which was unexpected for a 2 star hostel. The beds were comfortable as well. Location is walking distance from the main station and was very practical.

We loved everything about staying at Matsui Honkan and look forward to the next time we can visit. The whole property is well taken care of, with beautiful traditional features and peaceful classical music playing throughout. There is a high level of attention to detail with thoughtful touches, such as an origami crane to greet you, pjs to wear, and a special treat for our honeymoon. A true highlight was the incredibly kind and cheerful staff. They make this place truly special! We also loved the onsen, what a gorgeous place and a real treat. Best place we’ve ever stayed!

This non-smoking hotel provides in-room massages service can be arranged. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the premises. Staff were super kind though I did mistake while doing the booking they are kind enough to wait, ambience, tea ceremony and breakfast gave Japanese vibe.

The location is perfect. A couple of mins walk from kyoto station. The room is exceptional clean and I slept so well for my 2 nights there. Definitely a great experience
