Okunoyu has one of the best outdoor onsens in Kurokawa, views from the riverside bath are just stunning. Food was great as expected. Even the "mountain view" room has a great view outside. The room itself is comfy, might get a bit cold at night though.

Everything was perfect! Service was perfect, everyone was super polite and really made us feel taken care of. The meals were elaborate and delicious. The onsen in the room was magnificent, what a peaceful experience. I 100% recommend this Ryokan for a special onsen experience.

Food was awesome and they were accomodating towards our preferences. The futons were extremely fluffy and comfortable. We had the river room and the spacious room and amazing view was phenomenal. Super memorable stay with super attentive and friendly staff. The baths were fun and had great history to them. I think it's a sodium chloride spring with some sulfur content for the most part and I think there's another spring that's slightly different. They also swap around the baths morning/evening so that the guests can enjoy different ones!

Yamabiko Ryokan is genuinely one of the very best i've been to. They have many in-house private onsen which is lockable) to give more privacy which is a bonus. Their public onsen is just amazingly relaxing and scenic. To top it off, both lunch & dinner are absolutely delicious with impeccable service. Truly a memorable and unforgettable experience, as an ryokan should be.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Ryokan Yamanoyu. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome and were very flexible with arrivaltime. They went above and beyond to accommodate our special dietary needs, showing exceptional care and effort. Their kindness and high level of service made our stay special - thanks! The onsens were a highlight—especially the outdoor ones. The variety of both private and shared baths allowed us to enjoy peaceful, relaxing moments in beautiful surroundings. As it's a smaller ryokan, the atmosphere was intimate and personal, which made our experience more unique. We stayed for two nights, and the ryokan surprised us with two different dining experiences in two separate rooms. It was a fun and memorable touch—and the food was excellent on both nights, beautifully presented with great attention to detail. We highly recommend Ryokan Yamanoyu and would love to return one day.
