Great location right next to the Buddhanath Stupa, but in a secluded quiet side street. This is important because after walking around Kathmandu you want to relax without noise. The windows of the room overlooked the courtyard on the sunny side. There are many cafes and restaurants nearby. The airport is 20-30 minutes by taxi during the busiest hours, even faster at night.
The room is small but everything works. The room is very clean, the furniture is new and the bed is comfortable. Supervood!
The staff helped me a lot with navigating the city and suggested a few important points about the shops. Many thanks!
There is also a heater in the room, which is rare and very nice.

Our stay at Shambling Boutique Hotel was both an amazing start for our visit to Nepal as well as a beautiful gift for Christmas.
Every little detail was so charming and full of heartwarming hospitality.
It started with the smooth and welcoming pick-up from the airport, the warm reception, and continued with the tastefully decorated room, the perfect cleanliness, hot water (in Nepali winter) and the incredibly cosy bed.
he food was just another highlight: breakfast set in the serene garden and dinner in the restaurant under the Christmas tree, we enjoyed every delicious bite and sip.
But what stood out the most was the skilful and truly caring staff. Whenever even a hint of a wish arose, someone was already there to make it come true. Always gentle, always with a solution right on the spot and always with a bright smile.
This is hospitality at it's best.

The hotel is conveniently located for Bounhanath stupa which is around 10 minutes walking distance away but because its location is away from main roads, the hotel is incredibly calm and peaceful. Our room on the first floor was very stylish and decorated with high quality furnishings. Well equipped with fridge, tv, safe, hairdryer and kettle with tea/coffee supplies and complementary bottled water. Very comfortable king bed providing a relaxing nights sleep. Breakfast has a range of food options with eggs cooked to order plus various hot dishes, yoghurt, fruit, toast and cakes. We had a late lunch one day and two dinners in the restaurant and all were excellent.
A good base if staying in the area.
