It was very easy to get to by car, and I was the only guest in the entire house. The owners are so nice, and always willing to chat with you. They don't know much English so it is better if you know Japanese. However, your stay will still be a very comfortable one as they go above and beyond to meet all your expectations.

He took us to a nearby izakaya for dinner which had friendly owners, delicious food and was all round a great experience. Definitely recommend!

Visited Akita for the Kanto Festival in Akita city. It is about 1 hour drive but was no stress. The town of Misato is famous for spring water and amazing sake.

We liked everything and had a great time in Koh's house. It's a very big place, with all the ground floor available for us, with a completely equipped kitchen, washing machine, and everything we need. There is a small shopping center in a walking distance from the house, and a few restaurants too. Koh's house is in a calm a residential neighborhood which is nice to get closer to the japanese lifestyle in a small village, but there is a train station in a walking distance from there and it's just one station distant from Akita's main station. Finally, our host Koh is a very nice person, insisting in picking us up at Akita main station upon our arrival, and leaved us back there when we left, and very helpful all the time.

Kakunodate Guest House Choux está en Senboku, a 38 km de Termas de Nyuto y a 8 min a pie de Estación de Kakunodate. Best pillow among the hostels I've stay at so far! But more importantly the owners are very kind and generous and their lovely daughter likes to be social :) Shame not to spend more time in the area. Great to have a bar to hang your clothes/coat up!

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at this incredible accommodation during my visit to Kakunodate. The entire house was mine to enjoy — with a beautifully preserved traditional Japanese section and a comfortable Western-style area. It struck the perfect balance between authenticity and convenience, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the local culture while still feeling right at home. The location couldn’t have been better — situated right in the heart of Kakunodate’s cultural district, directly along the famous samurai house street. It was an unforgettable experience to wake up in such a historic setting and step right out into one of Japan’s best-preserved Edo-period neighborhoods. The host went far above and beyond. He was warm, thoughtful, and incredibly generous. He allowed me to check in early, offered free use of a bicycle (which turned out to be the perfect way to explore the charming streets and hidden spots), and even gave me a free ride to the train station when I left — something I deeply appreciated. If I ever return to Kakunodate — and I truly hope I will — I can only wish this accommodation is still available. I would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat. It was one of the highlights of my trip.
