This was by far the best stay I’ve had in Sri Lanka, and I truly wish I had stayed longer! The hostel is tucked away in a quiet, green area just outside the centre, the travel to the hostel is peaceful and extremely scenic. The place itself is beautiful, homely, and welcoming, and the host and their family are incredibly kind and helpful, making me feel immediately comfortable as a solo traveller. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the common areas are relaxing and charming. Breakfast and dinner were affordable, tasty, and filling. With the host’s guidance, I easily explored the stupas by push bike and never felt rushed or out of place. Whether you’re travelling solo or in a group, I can’t recommend this hostel enough—it’s warm, accommodating, and an unforgettable experience.

We had a wonderful stay here! The rooms are clean and very comfortable, and the accommodation is well located for visiting the sites of Anuradhapura. The hosts are incredibly generous and hospitable. They did everything to make us feel comfortable and helped us organize our visits. And above all, we had the best Sri Lankan breakfast of our entire trip!!! Beautiful, simple and clean rooms in pleasant and peaceful surroundings away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The owner, Kalhara, goes out of his way to ensure the stay is great, from arranging transport at decent prices to giving recommendations for things to do. The food provided for breakfast is also pretty delicious and generous in portion.

Jeewa was very helpful. He drove us to see Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Dambulla and Pollonaruwa. He also helped organise safari trip. His wife Oleena prepared us good meals every day. Place is quiet and relaxing.

Ruwan and his family/team are great hosts. They organise all you need and more if you have issues (like us with incovenient cash notes, shuttle from the train station, etc.). Would always recommend staying in Visu Villa hotel if one is in the region of Habarana. The food is great as well and always fresh made. The tours are fantastic as well.

Wasantha went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable! He collected us from our previous accommodation in Trincomalee at a fair price, organised an excellent guide for the next day, and when he heard we were keen to try new food he provided amazing Sri Lankan style food for breakfast and dinner.

We had two wonderful days at Sweet Home Tourist Rest and felt very comfortable in the familiar setting of this guest house. The breakfast was excellent, there is even a fridge with water and beer available and the hosts immediately organised a contact for us with an extremely pleasant local guide! Two intense days in an impressive place.

Everything was excellent. The food, the cleanliness, the friendliness etc. They helped us organize our stay in Habarana and even helped us do our laundry. We are truly glad we found this hotel. I wish we had more time to stay a few more days here. We highly recommend it. Hopefully we can come back one day.
