Sahan provided me with a spacious, comfortable, clean, fragrant and bright room. The bathroom is immaculate. It is located a 10-minute walk from the ancient city and rents bicycles to visit it. Sahan is a flexible and friendly person, full of attention and useful advice. He recommended a good hairdresser and an excellent (and trendy) restaurant just a few steps away from the property. As I had to work remotely, I needed excellent Wi-Fi, and here it is truly perfect: I had six hours of video conferencing without the slightest problem. I felt at home and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit this beautiful site.

Also cheap bike hire and a beautiful bike ride into town along the waterfront. Even helped me try and find a doctor/get medication I needed! Thanks for a great stay!

Lake Cabin, que se encuentra a 2,5 km de Gal Viharaya y a 2,9 km de Polonnaruwa Vatadage, ofrece habitaciones con aire acondicionado y baño privado en Polonnaruwa. The location was beyond expectations. Two separate cabins were situated next to each other. Each had two double beds, air conditioning, tea or coffee making facilities, a mosquito net and linen and toiletries. There was a small balcony with seating for four persons and the balcony was right next to the electric fence separating the forest reserve around Parakrama Samudraya man made lake. The view in the morning from the balcony was exceptional, and we could watch the sun rise amidst many water and land birds flying around us. We identified a grey heron, purple heron, many king fishers, peacocks, green and blue tailed bee eaters, a crimson backed golden back (woodpecker) among the numerous birds and two mongooses had a playful morning right before our eyes. The breakfast and dinner were delicious with three types of local fruits plus the meal. The host Sanka was lovely, providing us with our meals on the dot. He also found d accommodation for our driver in a nearby place. There is a wooden elephant making workshop right next to the cabins and our friend from Germany was delighted to watch elephant carving from wood and purchased 5 beautiful elephants. There are shops to buy common items within 200 meters of the cabins and bicycles are available for rent for those who like to cycle. We spent a lot more time in the cabin than we expected as we didn’t want to leave bird watching from our balcony!!

Hotel owners are the loveliest people and they made the most delicious breakfast and dinner on Sri Lanka. Also they offered to have lake safar, bike rental and private hire to next destination. All is very near to the accomodation and people are so friendly and nice.

I've stayed at many guest houses, but this is by far the calmest and most peaceful place I've ever booked. The owner is very kind, friendly, and extremely helpful. The rooms are spotless, and the facilities are excellent for the price. It's also conveniently located close to Parakrama Samudra (just 1.8 km away). I truly enjoyed my freedom here, and this stay has become one of the most unforgettable journeys I've had. If you're looking for a budget-friendly place that is clean, calm, and comfortable, there's simply no better choice than this!

Staying at Aruna Home Stay in Polonnaruwa was by far the best experience I had with local people during my trip in Sri Lanka. Mom and daughter were incredibly kind, always smiling, and genuinely helpful, making me feel like part of their family from the very first moment. The room was simple but very clean and comfortable, with everything I needed for a pleasant stay. What really made the difference was the warm hospitality: sharing meals, stories, and local advice gave me the chance to experience authentic Sri Lankan culture in a way that no hotel could offer. The location is also great, close to the ancient city and easy to reach by bike or tuk-tuk. Breakfast and dinner prepared at the homestay were delicious, with fresh and traditional dishes full of flavor. Villa Ravichini se encuentra en Polonnaruwa, a 8 min a pie de Polonnaruwa Clock Tower, y ofrece alojamiento con jardín, parking privado gratis, restaurante y bar. The guesthouse is close to the main sites. Ravi makes delicious breakfast with lots of fresh fruits. He even made us a takeaway breakfast when we had to leave early for elephant safari. Ravi organized bikes for us to use to see the ruins. He also set up an elephant safari with an excellent guide, Shiron. He was knowledgeable and showed us some incredible birds. He had a knack for getting us in the right spots for elephant viewing and was respectful to give the elephants space. Highly recommend a trip with him. We also recommend the morning trip as he said in the afternoons sometimes there are 200 jeeps!
