Run by such a nice family, you can tell they care about providing a good experience for guests, it's not just a business to them. Generous people who will make you feel welcome. I ended up staying an extra night than planned. The hostel is well located and has stunning views from the terrace areas on both floors. Highly recommended! Also helpful is that they will accept payment by credit card, not so common around Albania as of mid-2023.

VAL-MAR Guesthouse is located just in the center of Girocastro town-market. It is the biggest advantage - in the late night or in the early morning you can breath the air of the ancient town. Silver rock roof tiles , wallstones and black and white cobblestones pavements are worth to see, to walk on and even to touch... Parking place you will find like we did. Don't worry, the owner will help you. Great thanks to Rejan, mega clever boy, son of the owner, who assist us in all deals and solve all the questions we had. Hi, guy! You are the superman! Lazy Roo Hostel was the highlight of my stay in Sarandë. Bajo, the owner, is incredibly friendly and considerate, always making sure guests feel at home. The hostel is spotless, has the best location (less than 10 mins to the beach), and offers a delicious free breakfast. The rooftop is offers an amazing view to the city beach and is perfect for sunsets, drinks, and meeting travelers from all over the world. Highly recommended to anyone willing to socialize 🙂

A great place to stay in Sarandë! The owner Vera was very helpful, giving me information about the bus schedule and also helped me arrange a taxi to go to the castle. Her young sons are also very helpful, speak excellent English for their age and are also very precise in giving information. The hostel has an amazing view, a place to wash and dry your clothes, the kitchen is well-equipped, there's drinking water there. Comfortable beds and lockers in the rooms. Plenty of common space to relax. Definitely recommended!

The owners are very nice people. The rooms are clean and the whole structure well maintained. The most important for us was the private parking. If you travel on motorcycle, stop searching and choose Villa Mehmeti!

The stay at Hostel The Old Gate was amazing! The moment I arrived, the host (Taulant) greeted me with so much kindness and made me feel instantly at home. My room was spotless and cozy, with a balcony that opened to the most breathtaking mountain views, I could have sat there for hours. Breakfast was simple and delicious with homemade honey made by the owner, the perfect energy boost before wandering through the streets of Gjirokastër’s Old Bazaar as well as the Ali Pasha Bridge (aquaduct), both sites are located not far from the hostel. I loved relaxing on the terrace in the evening, surrounded by the peaceful garden, the host offered some homemade rakia and gave some nice suggestions for visiting in Gjirokaster and other places in southern Albania. Everything about this place felt authentic and welcoming. Without a doubt, I’d come back here again, it’s one of those rare places that makes traveling feel special.
