Overall very enjoyable stay, location is great (not far from the beach and from the bus terminal). We booked 2 private rooms with shared bathrooms - there were 3 bathrooms available in the hostel, and I've always found them clean and in a great condition. Even with our room on the ground floor it didn't get noisy at night. Hostel stuff was helpful, kitchen very well equipped, and breakfast delicious (only 5 USD extra). We enjoyed hanging out in the common areas, having a glass of wine, reading etc. Great value for money!

Never have I stayed in a hostel with such a hospitable owner before. Annette really made us feel welcome, and it was super nice to meet her family as well. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and we had a really good stay.

The location just around the corner of Parque Rodó is good considering the Montevideo old town is a rather gloomy place especially after dark. By contrast Rodó park is adjacent to Ramirez beach and the more modern and comfortable parts of town are close by. After having stayed at two other very noisy hostels in the city, Youki Haus managed by a German-French couple, is quiet and if there is a complaint about noise, they know where you are talking about and solve the issue. Moreover, there are several spaces like a living room and a roof terrace where you can retreat. The kitchen is well-equipped and never dirty! The hostel managers are always around to address any queries or just for a chat. Really very social people, as well as the other members of staff. All facilities like hot shower, toilets, WiFi worked well. Spanish, English, German and French fluently spoken by the management.

Charruas hostel has free bikes, garden, a shared lounge and bar in Montevideo. Located around 1.3 km from Ramirez, the hostel with free WiFi is also 1.4 km away from Tres Cruces Terminal Station.

Lovely place, friendly and easy-going. The house is full of character and the roof looking over the docks is great. Ciudad Vieja is a good and interesting place to stay (tho it can feel a bit sketchy at night) - so if you're not bothered about shared bathrooms, overall this place is a treat.
