Wonderful kind hosts, a beautiful garden full of wildlife. We saw giant crabs, poison dart frogs, agouti, sloths, many birds and colourful flowers. The restaurant is delicious and the whole place has a great atmosphere. Comfy beds, hammocks and well equipped kitchen. Very child friendly, quiet, clean and lots of fun. We loved it :-)

The property is located outside the busy and noisy centre of town in an oasis of peace and rest. The views of the sea, and the plants, trees and animals all around are magic! ✨ saw a sloth right opposite the gate of Svastha and Tucana fly around the yoga Shala!

Rihanny at the front desk is a total star. Calm, pleasant, warm and helpful she made our stay exceptional. The hostel was a joy, wonderful grounds with a resident sloth (Raoul), a number of agouti and most wonderful...the red straberry dart frogs. There are flowers at every corner and the trees and lush vegetation add ambiance and privacy. They have a good system for food storage in the shared kitchen and a nice little pool area.

This was a fun visit. I loved feeling like I was on an island. There weren't any cars. It was easy to walk to the park and plenty of restaurants to choose from. We ate at the Patio too. The food was amazing. We had a great stay. We did take a canoe tour through the National Forest area and saw lots of animals, birds, etc. The turtle sanctuary was interesting. I would love to see the turtle run--usually in June. I liked where the Patio is located right on the dock where we were taken and picked up by water taxi.

Chinitas Eco-Lodge is in San Francisco, a quiet village north of Tortuguero. We booked the deluxe queen room: perfect for our family, basic but clean, with good AC, and surprisingly bug-free! Breakfast was tasty, with coffee/tea, fruit, and a hot platter, and there are several wonderful hammocks for relaxing by the river. However, the best part our stay were the people: 1) Ana, one of the owners, was so warm and helpful (and patient with my attempts at basic Spanish) and her staff were equally friendly; and 2) Owen the tour guide was FANTASTIC: he has such passion for conservation, has a a sharp eye for spotting wildlife, and was instrumental in getting us to the right spots for turtle nesting. Strongly recommend booking the morning Canal tour as well as the late night Turtle tour with Owen, and booking the lodge in general if you want a welcoming, authentic experience!

Beautiful property, super cheap for Costa Rica, perfect for a budget traveller. The staff were super friendly and helpful and when you walk through the back gates you’re on a lovely beach with loads of monkeys in the trees above. Great vibe in the place.

A hostel run by a very friendly family. The hostel is quite far from the bus station, so Cecilia's daughter arranged a (cheap) tuktuk for us. Free coffee in the morning and we were also given pieces of fruit (guanabana). Rooms are okay in size and comfort. Ceiling fan worked well and was sufficiently cooling for us. Price quality more than oké.

If you want to feel at home in a beautiful place like Tortuguero, then Doña Marina will make sure you do. I stayed for 7 nights and I could've stayed for more. Doña Marina will help you with any of your questions and will book any tour for quickly and safely. She's an overall great person. The place itself is a great hostel to stay in and relax after a day of exploring the amazing place Tortuguero is.

Staff were really helpful, helped us navigate the local boats and even let us borrow boots. The setting is lovely with a very relaxed feel with great views from the platform. Great location just away from the main village and felt very safe.
