Sueca is officially a tourist municipality. The capital of Ribera Baixa has received from the regional Secretary of Tourism the distinction accrediting it as the 'Tourist Municipality of the Valencian Community'. Sueca Festival and Fair. The first fortnight of September sees the city's patron saint festivities dedicated to the Holy Christ of l'Hospitalet (the Sunday before the Virgin's feast day) and to the Virgin of Sales, celebrated on September 8. Highlights include the main procession, accompanied by dance groups and ancient chants, representatives of brotherhoods, biblical characters, etc. But there are also more entertaining activities, such as the Rice Festival featuring the "International Paella Contest", of national tourist interest, where chefs from around the world will prepare the best paella, and the "Rice Parade".
