Neighbourhood information

Elterwater is one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District and the location of Nans puts you right in the heart of the village with numerous walks straight from the door. The famous Britannia Inn is just a short stroll away from the front door and Slates Bistro sits on the corner opposite Elterwater’s magnificent maple tree. But if fine dining is your thing, then wander over the stone bridge that spans the River Brathay and indulge yourself at the welcoming Eltermere Inn. For those who wish to explore further afield, a bus stop is located opposite the Britannia Inn. Buses are frequent and connect guests with the wider towns and outstanding scenery of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Leaving the car behind and jumping on a bus to explore the National Park not only helps to look after the spectacular landscape but also gives passengers the opportunity to see it without the challenge of negotiating narrow, and sometimes steep, country lanes or search for parking at your destination. By sitting back watching the landscape go by, the journey becomes part of your adventure!
