Syðri-Þverá has unique natural beauty and panoramic views all around. These include views of Borgarvirki and Víðidalur mountains to the east, Vatnsnesfjall to the west, Eiríksjökull to the south and to the north Nesbjörgin and Sigríðarstaðavatn where the famous rock Hvítserkur is located in the northest end. The nature nearby is really beautiful and special and many places and things to see there. You can enjoy nature and recreation at Syðri-Þverá in many ways. There are beautiful hiking trails all around, a beautiful waterfall is located in the land of the farm, very good conditions are there for enjoying the northern lights and there is peace and quiet and ideal conditions for a unique stay for guests in the area. The house at Syðri-Þverá is a large country farm, built in 1964, which has been renovated and rebuilt in recent years. It has a long and special history and was used as a gathering place for the people in near area for many decades. It was the place where people held meetings, met to play with cards or celebrate and dance and many other social events. It was also where the local phone station was located for many years. The farm has been in the same family for over hundred years and are important place for Óskar the owner and his family. The house is big and cozy and specially suites smaller groups or people that are traveling together. Our guests will have access to a kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a shared living room. The old country style has been maintained and the experience is thought that the spirit of staying there in the countryside is similar like it used to be. In this way, the characteristics of the house and the place for recreation and experience have been maintained to create the uniqueness of the accommodation.

Óskar grew up and lives in Vatnsnes. He knows nature well and its use and utilization for sustainability and benefits. He has long been involved in various types of outdoor activities and has a lot of knowledge of the surrounding nature. He want to live in a good contact with the nature and think it is a privilege to live in such a beautiful place in Iceland, away from all noises and traffic. Óskar and his wife Þorbjörg do all kind of different art work...play and make our own music, write poems, knit and design sweaters called THIA from the Icelandic sheep wool and make art things from for example animal skulls and bones which is named - Natural Bones Design.

Syðri-Þverá farm is really well located near the seal colonies on the Vatnsnes peninsula, close from the famous rock Hvítserkur and you have beautiful mountain view from the bedroom window. It is located at Vatnsnesvegur 711 in Húnaþing vestra and is very well located in the center of Vatnsnes and close to many natural gems of the area. These include Hvítserkur 13 km away, Borgarvirki 11 km away, Illugastaðir 35 km away and Kolugljúfur 27 km away. In ca. 30 km distance is Hvammstangi- a small town where you can go to the seal museum and there are good restaurant and grocery shop among other small shops, art galleries and gas station.
