Podere Sant’Angelo is a peaceful retreat surrounded by unspoilt Tuscan countryside. A lovely garden filled with lavender, rosemary and other Mediterranean plants makes it an ideal place to relax, listen to birdsong and feel close to nature. We offer three independent self-catering apartments, each with its own private garden and terrace for outdoor dining and sunbathing. Zolferate and Capitorio are set in a beautifully restored 300-year-old stone barn just twenty metres from the main farmhouse. Both have high ceilings, chestnut beams, cool terracotta floors and a welcoming fireplace for cooler evenings. Each features a traditional cucina in muratura with a stone sink and everything you need to prepare simple Tuscan dishes. On the ground floor of the farmhouse, the Albegna apartment combines modern comfort with rustic charm. Large windows fill the space with light, and the covered 20 m² terrace is perfect for outdoor meals, an afternoon nap or watching the sun set over the valley. As is common in Tuscany, Podere Sant’Angelo lies 3 km along a well-maintained strada bianca (country lane). It’s easily accessible for standard cars and ensures a peaceful setting away from traffic, with wide views across the hills and skies full of stars at night.

I grew up in the northwest of England and, after studying in Scotland, spent many years living and working around the world. Having experienced life in some of the planet’s busiest cities, I now truly value the peace of being surrounded by nature. For over fifteen years, I’ve enjoyed life here at Podere Sant’Angelo. It’s a pleasure to share this corner of the Maremma with my guests — from the best villages to explore and the walks I love, to my favourite places to eat local food and taste great wine. What I appreciate most is the peaceful setting. From Podere Sant’Angelo, wide views stretch across the rolling Maremma hills. Evenings bring beautiful sunsets, and when night falls, the Milky Way appears clearly in the dark sky — a quiet reminder of how special this place truly is.

Podere Sant’Angelo lies in the Maremma, the peaceful and still largely undiscovered southern part of Tuscany. The property is about six kilometres from the village of Roccalbegna, where you’ll find two small grocery stores, a trattoria, a butcher, a pharmacy and a bank. This area is ideal for exploring both nature and culture. Scenic walks start directly from the property, and it’s also possible to discover the surrounding hills and villages by e-bike. The famous hot springs of Saturnia are about 30 minutes away, while the ancient Etruscan hill towns of Pitigliano, Sorano and Sovana can be reached easily by car. Wine lovers will enjoy day trips to the Val d’Orcia with its renowned towns of Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano. For a day by the sea, the beaches of the Parco Naturale della Maremma are just over an hour’s drive away with long stretches of sand and clear water surrounded by wild coastal landscape.
