Koneswaram Temple (Swami Rock / Konamalai) A sacred Hindu temple perched on a promontory overlooking the sea. About 400 feet above sea level, giving spectacular views over the harbour and Indian Ocean. Nilaveli Beach Soft white sands, calm turquoise water, excellent for swimming, relaxing, or launching trips to Pigeon Island. Uppuveli Beach Just north of Trinco town; more laid-back. It’s less crowded and good for beach walks, seafood, chilling. Pigeon Island National Park Great snorkelling and diving with coral gardens, reef fish, turtles. A boat ride from Nilaveli. Marble Beach A quieter and more secluded beach (even more off the beaten track). Very pretty, with calm, clear water and clean sand. Kanniya Hot Springs Seven geothermal wells with historical/mythological significance. It’s a relaxing place to bathe (note: no soap, separate changing rooms). Fort Frederick Historic fort built by Portuguese, then expanded by Dutch and British. Also includes Koneswaram Temple site. Great place for history + views.
