This is a new, independent, luxuriously furnished, one-bedroomed apartment equipped with all possible amenities, including air conditioning, a fully-fitted kitchen, large rain shower cabinet, patio for outdoor dining, front terrance, etc. The apartment has a relaxed feel to it with its rich furnishing and fittings, making guests feel immediately at home. It is set on the first floor with access to both stairs and an elevator. Total floor area is about 68 square meters. Guests will have sole access to the entire apartment (no shared parts). Situated on an elevated part of Mellieha, with distant views of the sea as well as Comino from its wide front terrace, it is just 2 corners away from the busy main street with its shops and restaurants. Mellieha Bay, 500 meters of soft white sands, is two and a half kilometers away from the apartment or a 45 minute walk, with a large free parking area and restaurants at the sea front (note that this is not a seafront apartment but in-town). Coming back from the beach it's best to take the few stops uphill by bus! The apartment can also accommodate guests accompanied by infants from 0 to 2 years of age (a baby cot is included) at no extra charge. Guests arriving by bus from the airport should ask the driver to drop them at bus stop "Etna" which is 200 meters from the apartment. Guests arriving with their vehicles should try to find a nearby parking space marked in white. In either case, your host would be there to welcome you and help you settle in. Mellieha is ideally located to explore the northern part of the island with its wild countryside, historic castles and sandy beaches, as well taking boat trips to the smaller islands of Gozo and Comino.
I love meeting people from different countries and backgrounds, sharing knowledge and experience, learning about new ideas and traditions. I also love the Maltese Islands, with their unique history, geography and traditions, and I take every opportunity to share that knowledge with my guests and friends whenever they want to. Malta's weather is ideal for outdoor activities with it's glorious sunny days even in winter time and I spend as much time as life allows swimming, cycling or hiking in the countryside. But above all, I enjoy the challenge of giving my guests a perfect stay in Mellieha in a wonderful and warm setting. After all, that is what I look for when I'm travelling abroad.
Mellieha is the northernmost town on the main island and about 22km from the capital Valletta. It's set on a hill with two deep valleys on either side of it which are ideal for long walks in a Mediterranean country setting. It's main town attractions are its two adjacent churches and the squares in front of them which are the hearth of Mellieha with their boutique shops, cafeterias and various restaurants. Mellieha is mainly a residential town with a large primary school and children's' playing areas and the type of tourists it attracts are the ones looking for a peaceful and relaxing stay, away from the noisier tourist towns of the centre of the Island. Besides enjoying one of the larger sandy beaches on the Island, Mellieha is also an ideal base to take a quick ferry boat across the sea to spend the day on the islands of Gozo or Comino. Within 10 minutes' driving from the centre are three major 17th century knights' watch towers; Selmun, the Red Tower and the White Tower. All three sites, besides their architectural and historical value, are located in natural reserve areas, ideal for hiking and discovery. The only downside of Mellieha is the undulating nature of its streets, sometimes with steep gradients and steps to access one part of town to the other; it is afterall, a hilltop town.
