At the age of 73, Maria Serpa is still just as passionate about the art of welcoming as about her roots in Pico Island. Born and raised in the island, Maria moved to San Francisco, US, where she lived for 26 years. The homesickness which Pico island evokes brought her back to the motherly womb. Carrying with her the vision of the islands's touristic potential, Maria started taking over ancient stone houses refurbishing them into country cottages, doing her part to show Pico island to the world.

Adegas do Pico is a set of twelve stone built houses located in Praínha, Pico island, where the guests enjoy the hospitality of Maria and the feeling of the traditional Azorean village.

Neighbourhood information

The stone houses, cozy sandy beach and natural swimming pool; the local Canto do Paço restaurant and the small grocery shops with its local products, and the always present seaview offer our guests a genuine Pico island lifestyle experience.
