Just note that the bath water in the bathroom is not from hot spring but hot spring water is available at public bath. Room amenities are great (Air purifier, soap, lotions etc. provided) and not too old (Considered well maintained). Hotel facilities are nice. Location is good because there is a convenient store nearby and walkable to ropeway attraction. Would very much want to go back again.

Guests can relax at the communal hot spring bath or the private hot-spring bath free of charge. You can cook in the fully equipped kitchen or read at the mini library. Free Wi-Fi is provided at the lounge. Spending time in this place was so amazing and comfortable. We rented the yukatas with my friend, so we felt like we were in some historical movie. The onsen was so private and cozy. It was one of the best places we've been in Japan. Also, there was a yummy place with the grilled meat near the hostel.

We had a fantastic trip to the Kiso Valley and to Sakanomichi. The hosts, Ken and Yuki, were absolutely lovely and made us feel so welcome and comfortable! You very much felt like a cherished guest in their home. Such a lovely couple! Having now done the hike between Magome and Tsumago I would definitely recommend staying in Magome (which seemed to be the less popular choice when I was researching.) Tsumago was so charming but seemed much much sleepier - Magome is already very quiet and quaint with lots of charm. Restos/ cafes and shops in Tsumago seemed to close early or if they had sold out leaving you less options in the way of food or snacks. Not a deal breaker but just something to consider. Not sure if this was to do with the time of year - we were there in early March - but Magome was hardly bustling in comparison. Sakanomichi was lovely, beautifully finished with comfortable amenities, gloriously warm showers after a cold days hike! Ken and Yuki thank you for everything! Also, definitely pop to Hill Billy Coffee in Magome if you have time, its well worth the stop in! Delicious coffee!

Great staff; polite and refined but not “too much”, the steak dinner was nice and they were able to accommodate my request to change one of the dishes. Room was spacious, modern and the overall design was great with a large balcony, a lot of sunlight from the windows and privacy at the same time. Wine was great too.
