Composed of 2 buildings, The Okura Tokyo boasts a garden and bar. Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk and room service, along with free WiFi. Everything! The incredibly welcoming, kind, and helpful staff made our stay flawless. The bed was incredibly comfortable, our expansive city views (Prestige corner room) were stunning - Tokyo Tower was so close and beautiful at night when it was lit up, the bathroom with its deep soaking tub and shower (rainfall, wand, and massaging jets) was loaded with amenities and toiletries. The pajamas and robe were soft and super comfortable. Service was attentive and gracious. We loved the breakfast buffet at Orchid - an extensive spread with both Japanese and Western offerings, delicious pastries, a station for made-to-order eggs, a nice balance of savory and sweet. There’s even a Lawson on street level of the building.

Opened in April 2017, Hakone Kowakien Tenyu offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami flooring, an open-air bath or ceramic open-air hot springs bath made with Shigaraki pottery. The most incredible stay on our Japan trip. Everything from the staff to the food and onsen facilities were incredible. The staff were so very accomodating, buses come around daily to take guests around hakone sights. My only regret is that we didnt stay long enough.

Hakone Suimeiso is located a 3-minute walk from Hakone Yumoto Station and a 15-minute walk from Sounji Temple. It offers public hot-spring baths, free parking on site and free Wi-Fi access. Melinda was the hostess who took care of us for the 2 nights. She was very professional, friendly and took the time to explain each dishes to us at dinner and breakfast. The same can be said of all the staff. The Kaseiki dinner and breakfast were exceptional, especially the quality of the sashimi. We stayed 2 nights and the menus are different on both days. Our traditional room is very clean, on the 5th floor with view of trees and river below. The outdoor onsen was small but very clean, with the same beautiful trees and river views. I was pretty much the only peson at the outdoor onsen in the evening, so quiet and relaxing with sound of the river . We also booked the private onsens for 2 days and they were also clean with modern aesthetic vibes.

It has its own onsen bath and a kotatsu-like heated carpet on a low table where we had fun chatting while heating our legs.

Everything about my stay was so wonderful. Hiro and his adorable assistant, Marie, are attentive, kind, and welcoming. I got to hear different stories of Hiro's life as well as recommendations that I never would have known about otherwise. His care for the guests is so apparent, including turning the heater on every morning in the kitchen, being so responsive and flexible, and consideration for any needs. The house itself is beautiful with tatami mats in the bedroom, a zen garden, a mini onsen, and surrounded by ancient trees and nature. The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, kettle, and dishware, and Hiro-san provides towels and slippers. He also prepares the mini onsen for guests every night as well as shuttle service to Tobu and JR stations whenever you would like to leave or come back to the house.

It was a great experience from arrival to departure. The rooms are so comfortable and beyond clean. The staff is super friendly and will fulfill everything you could possibly wish for. The only problem was that we couldn’t stay longer.
