We had a pleasant boat trip from Sydney harbour over to Manly Beach, It was well worth the visit. Beautiful sands and a nice place to go for a drink/meal/walk around the shops. Much nicer than Bondi in our opinion.

We went to Australian football (not soccer) game here and we did not understand the rules but it was great! The crowd was wonderful and we cheered when our side stood up and cheered! This was a super way to be a part of the culture! It was just FUN.

There are numerous beaches to choose from. Some are for surfing, some for swimming and other water sports. Manly beach is particularly good with all activities catered for and lots of bars, cafes and restaurants to choose from plus plenty of shops.

If you want to go to Manly Beach in the summer, get the 9 am ferry - if a cruise ship is in, the later ferries are full and you might have to wait. They come every 20 minutes after 10, but you still would have to wait.
