Very nice and cozy hotel to stay in Kyoto. Very conveniently located to get to all the important places. Onsen is beyond praise - a super feature after long walks around the city. The restaurant is very tasty, and the staff does their job perfectly.

I liked everything about this hotel! It is in a calm area yet close to all the "must-see and must-experience" sights in Kyoto. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the bakery and workspace downstairs made my day! Don't forget to finish your long day at the rooftop bar in front of a cosy fireplace, sipping Negroni and enjoying the moment.

The location is great-- close to Keihan Shijo station and other bus stations. Walkable to Gion & other attractions. Convenient stores nearby & you can walk along the small breek in a good weather. The room is very spacious and nicely set up too. I particularly loved the amenities. The staff is super friendly and helped a lot with our questions. Everything was great!

The rooms are so big for Japan. The bed is super comfortable and the shower is amazing. I stayed in a number of rooms as we kept extending our stay, my favourite room was the one facing the street as it was quietest. The ones facing the river seem to have some low level noise from the Subway but it's not very bad my any means. I slept perfectly in all of the rooms.

The hot springs are amazing. Love the view and foot spa on rooftop. Breakfast Bento is delicious. 3 min walk to Hankyu station, and 10 min walk to Keihan station. My family and I love this place a lot. We'll definitely choose Sora Niwa next time we come to Kyoto.

We went there just before the golden week began and it...

We went there just before the golden week began and it really wasnt crowded at all! Great place to experience a more 'serene' (its a tourist attraction after all) and calm kyoto with the various small beautiful buildings on the grounds. I have to admit there is not a lot to see overall so if you want more indepth information i recommend going somewhere else - 600¥ is also a bit higher than usual but if you want to take a break of crowded kyoto thats the place! Good sanitary facilities and a small teahouse with the typical green tea and sweets at the end. The small shrine in front is also worth visiting with a very nice stairway from the streets from kyoto and a small ice cream booth (matcha ice is recommended). the surroundings are also worth checking out with another nice buddhist temple and traditional vendor's streets close by. Don't forget checking out the small bamboo grove on the tour walk-through! 4/5 stars would come back.
