We loved the accommodation, with a beautiful terrace at the front overlooking nature and the sunset. The owner was helpful in arranging a safari and for advising restaurants in the neighbourhood for take away (so we could it with the beautiful view). The sanitaire was clean.

Very remote location in the wilderness. We saw water buffalo bathing in the evening. Very peaceful surrounded by wilderness. Loved it :)

The food was incredible and the hosts were so generous with it, we could not finish it all. We loved the birds and the nature surrounding the property. Roshani took us to a beautiful sunset lookout point. We loved everything about our stay!

I have been to Sri Lanka three or four times, and when I come, I mostly stay in places connected with nature.
Really, this place is very beautiful, and no matter how hot it was, it didn't feel like it inside this room.
Here is a place of amazing beauty combined with a real jungle-like environment.
I highly recommend this place to anyone.
This is the place that provided the best service at the lowest price among the places I have visited in Sri Lanka.
The staff was very close to us and provided good service.
I highly recommend it as the only place that gave the best service for the lowest price.

This place is the definition of a getaway. truly remote. Never thought I'd experience this side of Sri Lanka on this holiday. Very nature based, local food, got to speak to the people in the villages on how they cultivate their crops, went on a very scenic bike ride with friends in the evening with the best views. The RIVER! wow loved every bit of it. We spent around 3 hours here and had a final dip before leaving the next day too. The water flowing over the shoulders felt like a free spa treatment.

I am very glad I have found this place. The owner is a warm hearted man that not even introduced me to his family and invited me to their home but has also been very helpful with organizing my trip. He even brought me to the bus and sightseeing spots without expecting tip. The hotel itself is beautiful and lies directly next to a nice river where you can go swimming. I had the best dinner here. The garden is charming! Cannot recommend this place enough!

Big comfortable double room. Loved the pool. I didn’t realise it was so close to the entrance to block 6 of Yala National Park and that the property had a young man studying the natural environment who would have guided us through the wildlife, birds and vegetation of Yala. We had already booked a safari going in at block 1 which proved to be very busy,

The staff was super nice and the owner took us for a walk around the area during sunset to show us all the birds and the beautiful nature. we had great candle light dinner and also used the opportunity to do a safari with them. They prepared breakfast for us which we had at the beach during the safari and our guide was an expert in finding the animals ;)

The garden is really nice and quiet. Especially in the morning I enjoyed my coffee on the terrace while watching the peacocks dancing in the field next to the garden. The host arranged a Safari to Lunugamvehera National Park for us, which is really recommended if you want to do a Safari without masses of tourists. We just saw 3 other jeeps and our guide took distance to the animals.

Our stay at River Lodge was very pleasant. The room was clean, spacious, comfy bed & shower. You can hear the river from the rooms and restaurant. The local Sri Lankan food was really tasty. The owner and his colleagues are very friendly and made us feel like home. In the morning we took bath in the river and lay in the grass under the trees to read a book. The room is very cheap for the quality of the stay. We really recommend staying at River Lodge!
