Truly exceptional stay, the hotel is wonderfully clean, the room very comfortable. The bathing facilities were pristine, the food delicious and the staff outstanding. The setting is very calm with the hotel set around a beautiful Japanese garden and we had a lovely view of the mountains from our window. We had a Japanese room so with futons, and they were the comfiest we had in our whole trip. To say everything was perfect sounds like an exaggeration but we really could find no fault. Don't miss this place !

Wonderfull experience! We loved everything about it. Akira and his mother were so kind to us during our stay and the room was just fantastic! It was already warm when we arrived and they had tea ready for us. Even though Akira's mother does not speak English she communicated with us through Google Translate and explained how to wear the yukata and told us about her family. Akira picked us up from Yudanaka station and offered a ride to the monkey park, which we appreciated very much. We felt very at home. The onsen was also super nice (hot!) and well maintained.

Multi course exceptional meals including local seasonal produce - such a special experience. Onsen (inside and outside on rooftop), shower area and products were all high quality, traditional Japanese style rooms were beautiful, location in the town is great and fact saying here provided access to the 9 public onsens was fab. Shuttle bus was such a treat after we had gotten used to walking everywhere alongside buses/ train. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel! Certainly a highlight of the trip and can’t fault it.

Beautiful boutique-feeling ryokan with really wonderful staff. We celebrated two birthdays and I was able to coordinate the delicious cakes over email. They even helped us take a photo and printed it out so we all had a little souvenir <3 So thoughtful! The rooms and building were lovely, as was the outdoor onsen. We did the private onsen experience too which was a little extra, but worth it especially to spend time with a partner. Food was tasty and yukatas were very pretty. Felt like a little dream.

Excellent hotel! We booked a room with a private onsen and had an amazing time soaking in the warm hot spring water :) The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and even helped us to get to the Snow Monkey Park on our first day there. The breakfast and dinner service was also a real feast! We loved every minute and hope we can come back one day :)

The ryokan is very clean and orderly. Mother and daughter run the place. They have great customer service. I also spent ¥6K for their dinner, and comparable to the few nearby restaurants. Especially nearby small restaurants need to be pre-booked. Location is great few blocks from the train station to Nagano City. Also few bus routes that take you to Snow Money Park and skiing areas. I was able to schedule a 30 minute slot for my private use of the outdoor onsen. I enjoyed my 2 night stay there.

The room was great. Had everything we needed to stay warm and cosy. Loved the traditional feel of the room and ryokan. The 2 private onsens were great, good self-booking system for these. The underground passage to the standing bar was unique and quirky. Parts of the building are historic but was also very clean. Toiletries provided; and slippers, yukata and geta wooden shoes available to borrow. The village itself, Shibu Onsen, was brilliant with the 9 public bath houses, and forest walk to the snow monkey bathing pool.

This place was a really good deal- the rooms were large and comfortable. The rooms are slightly out of date but I feel like that is reflected in the price. It is small inn and we had the hot springs to ourselves. There is a large indoor onsen for both women and men and a private outdoor spring that was available every time we wanted to use it. The owners were very friendly and kind. I wish we had planned a little more time to soak and enjoy.

1. The location is in the middle of Shibu Onsen 2. Under 10 mins from Yudanaka Station by car 3. Easy access to public buses to Jigokudani and Shiga Kogen 4. The ryokan itself is very comfortable and big for a ryokan. It’s public bath is spacious and very clean. It also has several private Onsen rooms for booking. The private dining is excellent. The public areas has free computers and internet as well as complimentary hot beverages. There is even a souvenir corner with fresh seasonal fruits for purchase.

The room was very spacious and comfortable. I loved the idea of having a private onsen so we could enjoy the hot spring anytime we want. We were late to property due to lost in translation during our travel and didn’t get to the train station until early evening. Hotel staff was very accommodating to pick us up at the station to the hotel and had dinner ready as soon as we arrived. Top notch service, food and cleanliness. Strongly recommended.
