The Warden’s House is worth a rare “10 out of 10” from me. The building is beautiful and tasteful - decorated authentically with Sri Lankan antiques and the most comfortable furniture on the terrace. All four rooms look out onto the pool and gardens, which back onto a beautiful river. It’s an incredibly peaceful and luxurious place to spend time before or after safaris and other excursions, especially as there are so few guests there. You often feel like you have the entire house to yourself. We chose the Warden’s House because we wanted to do safari in a quieter area of Yala (Block 5). We heard the main area (Block 1) is extremely busy and that it’s much harder to see animals like leopards. Even if they’re there, the number of vehicles can make it impossible to see them up close. We are so pleased with our decision! We did two safaris and saw three leopards, up close and personal! We saw many other beautiful animals and birds, but were ecstatic about the leopards. We also chose The Warden’s House because it’s a sister hotel of Galle Fort Hotel and Thotalagala, so we trusted the service would be exceptional. It didn’t disappoint - the food was some of the best we have had at any hotel and the service was incredible. We had breakfast and dinner in our own part of the garden every day, with candlelight and a fire in the evening. All our meals were included plus sundowners and food on the safaris. To give a glimpse of the service level - you are welcomed back from safaris with cold flannels and the entire garden is lit by candlelight from about 6pm for sundowners. The value for money is exceptional. If you are visiting Sri Lanka or Yala for a safari, we can’t recommend the Warden’s House highly enough, especially if you’re a fan of small luxury and authentic boutique hotels like we are.

The manager of the the hotel Inbaraj was great! He made sure we had everything we needed and together with his team, he provided a great experience - from the cinnamon plantation tour to sri lankan food we had not tried before the whole team did their best. The manager also organized a great safari trip to Yala national park. The room was very big and clean. The hotel is surrounded by rice fields and nature.

Great check-in experience with king coconut water. The staff was very responsive and proactive with regards to getting to the location as its in a remote area. Rooms were very beautiful - free standing building, high ceilings, nice bathroom.

The tent was very comfortable and clean, staff attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. But the best thing was the safaris. Well planned with extremely knowledgeable guides. Especially Mark is a walking encyclopedia of local history, geography and fauna and passed on his enthusiasm for the local wildlife. Thoroughly recommended.

This is one of the best stays. Place is absolutely beautiful and exceeded our expectations. We booked the cabana with the private pool and facilities of that was extremely satisfying. Special comment should be given on the customer care of the entire staff including the management. They paid attention to every bit of our requests. Food was delicious. I stayed at go yala hostel for two nights - a beautiful hostel in front of a lake in the middle of the jungle. The place is calm and just surrounded by nature. I was warmly welcomed with a fresh coconut. Shortly after I arrived I left for night safari - an awesome experience to see wild elephants at night time! After a few hours of sleep i left for safari at 5 o’clock in the morning. Besides many elephants and buffalos we were also really lucky to find a leopard! Thanks to our awesome guide again! During our stay we really enjoyed the tour through garden and were stunned by everything growing and living there. Your only neighbors will be cows and a lot of chicken and birds. I also loved the food prepared for us. I can really recommend this place if you are looking for a very good safari experience and a calm and beautiful place to stay. Thanks for this awesome time Go Yala Hostel! I enjoyed it soo much!
