- want to eat some proper home-cooked tacos
- stay as close as possible to Calakmul, the best Mayan ruin in Mexico (still 1 hour drive)
You should not stay here if you:
- hate camping
- want air conditioning
- want to wash in a shower rather than with a bucket
- do not want to be woken by howler monkeys.
This place is an unforgettable experience, but if you're used to comfortable hotels, it's not for you.
Do yourself a favour though: even if you're not going to stay here, stop by for tacos at the outdoor restaurant on the way back from Calakmul, you will not regret it.

United KingdomCute rustic bungalows in a Mayan/ Mexican hamlet just 2 minutes drive from the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve gate. Mosquito net, warm shower, comfy bed. Very clean. Lovely family run place which serves breakfast (included) and dinner (pay extra). They accommodated our vegan diet no problem.
